Anyone have any guitar tablature for these guys?

Oz

I figured out the chords from "Old Sept Blues", "The Dark", "I will be there when you die", "By My Car", "At Dawn" and "Phone Went West". No solos or anything. I'd have to type them out first, but if you want, I can mail 'em to you.

Wouldn't it be an idea to put the chords on this site? I have typed out "By my car", "At Dawn" and "Phone went west", so if anyone's interested, let me know.

I think it would be cool to have a tabs tab.  Someone with tablature typed out should contact the webmaster.

Chanson: At Dawn
Artiste: My Morning Jacket

C#                      F#
At Dawn they rise again
        C#                        F#
They'll haul you out to the street
        G#                            F#
They'll burn your papers and your empty thrash cans
G#                    F#
Beat this thought into your head
F#
Saying over and over again...

C#                  F#
All your life is obscene
   C#                                        F#
Forget the papers, forget your musical dreams
    G#                   F#
But that's when my knife rises
G#                    F#                  C#
Their life ends and my life starts again!!!!

Chanson: By My Car
Artiste: My Morning Jacket

A#
She said:
D#sus2
"Evan
F            D#sus2   A#
is coming over again"
I said:
D#sus2
"If he does,
F          D#sus2
I'll kick
            A#
I'll kick his head in"
I'be known you for years
I know all your moves
I just can't believe that it caved in this soon
And I'm playing it over and over again in my head

I said: "Where you go?"
She said: "Where've you been?"
He took you to movies and carnival tents
Bought you big houses and payed all the rent
And I'm playing it over and over again in my head

            F    D#sus2   A#
Oh, and Los Angeles
           D#sus2
ain't that far
            F            D#sus2
Oh and the rest of the girls
            A#       D#sus2
said they'd be there by my car

--------

Chanson: Phone Went West
Artiste: My Morning Jacket

G        D            A
Is there a doctor in the house tonight?
If there's a wrong he could make it right
Is there still a lock on your backdoor?
Is there still a lock on your backdoor?

G            D
Tell me I'm wrong
                  Bm
Tell me I'm right
            A
Tell me there's nobody else in the world

Break:
Bm  G (or the other way around)

I have some more, just have to type them out, but here's my first shot... The chords might not be on the right spot, if you know what I mean, but these are the chords to use, just listen to the record to figure out the timing and strumming and such.
By the way, as you can see, these songs are incredibly simple, and yet, so fucking amazing. How does he do it?  ;D

Yeah, baby! Another one of my topics is sticky now!  ;D

Well, since Two Tone Tommy is here, can't he help us, poor little guitar freaks with some tabs? No, for real now, I'm busy writing an "I Will Be There When You Die Tab", all I can tell you for now is to play it with your capo on the sixt fret, just like Jim playes it. The solo notes are easy to figure out, the rest is still somewhat blurry.
Nevertheless, bless you MMJ!

Again with the stickiness!

what's the Dutch word for "sticky"?
Runnin' from somethin' that isn't there

Oz

Hmm, John, that's a tricky one. A literal translation would be "plakkerig". However, in this context, that translation would be rather weird. Can anyone help on this one?

Kristof Devos

Well, to be correct, sticky means "plakkerig" or "kleverig"... But how to translate it? Hell, I don't know! Maybe the best way for now is to say "kleverigheid"... It will do, I guess.

Hell, I've searched the whole net to find some mmj-tabs, but guess they aren't as famous as metallica, so I didn't find anything.  So I had to figure it out myself. Well here's the tab for "I will be there when you die".

Tune down your guitar one half note

Intro:  (fading in)(search the rhythm for yourself)

     D
Eb---3- 3--3-2--0---3-3-3-2-----I
Bb---3---3--------3-3--3----3---I
Gb---2--------------2---------2-I
Db---0--------------0-----------I
Ab------------------------------I
Eb------------------------------I

Verse
D                G                             D
Joe was born in New York city, son of Paul and Catherine
D                G                    Em            A
Always down and always out, but his morrows always seemed just fine

Chorus

 Bm              Em         Bm                Em
There will be bigotry and there will be open minds
 Bm            Em                      G              Em
There will be days of peace, you 'll never have the time
Bm              Em                G
As long as you keep a straight face
       Em                 D
I will be there when you die
                Em               G
As long as you keep a straight face
           Em              D
I will be there when you die

Verse

                  G                 Em              A
Always down and always out, but my morrows always seemed just fine
 Bm             Em          Bm                Em
There will be bigotry and there will be open minds
Bm              Em                   G               Em
There will be days of peace, you'll never have the time
 Bm             Em              G
As long as you keep a straight face
       Em                 D
I will be there when you die
                Em               G
As long as you keep a straight face
       Em                 D
I will be there when you die
D
OOOOOH
G
OOOOH

Outro

D (just strum and pick this chord for a while)
Eb---2
Bb---3
Gb---2
Db----
Ab----
Eb----

Then James plays the d-chord higher and picks it

Eb---14-
Bb---15-
Gb---14-
Db---0--
Ab---0--
Eb------

So this is it!
I know it's not completely accurate, but that should do it.

If you have any suggestions to improve, please let me know

Thanks Jeroen (Dankjewel!),
Now try putting your capo on the 6th fret instead of the first, just  like Jim plays it and transpone the notes of your tab to the new positions... And let the magic work.

Oz

Thanks for that I will be... tab! I always play it on piano, kinda in a loose interpretation, ´cause I couldn´t get it right on the geeta. So thanks!  :)

O, please please pleazzzze post all your tabs, we're all desperate... We wanna play some more MMJ, but the tabs are all done - finished - finito. Help us!

Oz

I'm beginning to have serious doubts if my tabs are right. I had figured out the chords to I will be..., but it now turns out that I played the wrong chords in the chorus. And when I looked at Jim when he played By my car at the Paradiso show, he also played some different chords.
I could tell you that I always play O with Bm and A and D and A in the final part and How do you know with Am and G throughout the entire song, but I can't guarantee you that's right...

The Bear anyone? I can kick a trashcan for the bass drum!

C#7stolen as the F#wars begun, Athis time your Bsoul is my one.

A#mI'D MOVE FmON, but i F#know you'll need me some C#7day.
A#mI'D roll FmON, but i F#know you'll need me some C#7day.

repeat verse, and end alternating between C#7 and F#

jeroen

haai,

I figured out the solo for war begun (more or less).  It's rather simple and yet it sounds perfect!

Enjoy!

hey guys,

I powertabbed the bear and I put it on www.powertabs.net.  If you don't have the software for it, you can download it for free on this site. (for the people who don't know what powertab is: it is a program where you can give in musicnotes, so make a tab, and afterwards you can listen to it by means of this software, just hit the playkey)

let me know if it sucks or not (it's my first powertab and any comment whould be welcome)
