Thanks!  Is the audio on this going to be available separately, perchance, or could someone downloading the video upload it somewhere (as long as that's okay with the taper)?  I would love to hear the show!

thanks so much for this.  a really great treat around these parts.   also thanks for going the extra mile making these HD and what not.  for a second I was getting over 1mb/sec.  I'm going to chill on it until tomorrow night when hopefully some more people are seeding.

if there is a 1:100 ratio of seeds:leechers it'll take forever so if you are just seeing this now like I am, queue, but try and hold downloading right away.  It'll go faster if we don't slam it all at once.

I was going to ask this also. I could DL it, but it would just sit on my computer at that point. I seemed to have fallen off the boat when it comes to keep up with how to do this stuff.

I should be able to help you out as well.  I looked and at one point there were five seeders, but now it's down to two.  In other words, it might take a minute.

here's how to download and burn this, or at least how I would do it.

1.) download bittorrent client, I like this one:
http://www.utorrent.com/

2.) install, it setups pretty much everything up for you automatically, the only thing you might want to designate is where the bittorrent files are downloaded to.  this will come up during the install as an option like any other program would do it.

after that you have the client and can download bit torrent files.

3.) download the bittorrent file (the tiny file) from the link the OP posted.  This should download and then open it.  a box will pop up in utorrent with all the files that in the torrent, just click ok or whatever and it'll queue/start downloading.   It's very obvious

the process of downloading will take a awhile but in the end you are all downloading that same file, the speed is an exponential growth sort of thing.  the more seeders, means the more bandwidth, which means the faster the speeds are.  if there are way more leechers/people downloading than there are seeding it bogs it down.

imagine if you're on a cable modem which is capped at like 120kb per second or something upload speed wise.  if you host it and are the only one seeding it and then people try and download it from you you're sharing that 120kb/per second and dividing it up between the different people.  the people in turn will get speeds closer to 10kb or 20kb per second.  if that makes any sense.

so the more seeders the faster it goes for everyone.

the download bar is straight forward, it gives you a percent and tells you whether or not your downloading, seeding, complete, etc.  you might say "well I don't want 1000 other people connecting to my computer".  this only effects your computer while the client is open.  once you close the client or shut  your computer off or whatever people aren't downloading from you anymore so it's fairly safe in that regard.

to burn it you need a burning program like nero or something:

http://www.videohelp.com/oldguides/nerodvd.htm

there are free ones on the net that do the same stuff, I'm at work otherwise I'd find a link.

hope some of this makes sense.

Just as an addon.  As baustin wrote, this required dvd9/DL discs and a burner capable of burning dvd9/DLs.  Unfortunately mine can't so I have to have my friend do it.  Typically it will say on your disc tray cover

Also, not all DVD players are created equal.  If you burn a dual layer disc, you might not be able to play it on the DVD player in your living room.  I have a very nice LG BluRay player with wireless internet.  It plays everything I've ever put into it (I think it would even play an English muffin, though I'm not sure what I'd see or hear).  Some DVD players cannot play DVD+R discs, nor dual layer, so you'd be stuck watching it on your computer monitor.

Not that we're made of money, but may I HIGHLY recommend this LG BluRay player.  Its a bit expensive, but CNET and Consumer Reports rated it a top unit and it does it all (except 3D).  I can stream Netflix and YouTube, rent HD movies, and even tap into my computer's media files, so I'm listening to the MPP bootleg (for instance) through my 7.1 surround system!  Here's more on the LG player (around $300):

That definitely sounds like an awesome blue ray player. I have a PS3, it also automatically upgrades through wireless updates. Not sure what they charge for PS3's in the US but I bet it is the same or less than that Lg player.

I'm getting 500 Kb/s right now!! More than 50% done!

I typically use utorrent (mutorrent) as well, which I find to be a great client. I don't torrent often though, so this may be bad info. But you just open the torrent file that you download with the program and go from there.

Okay, I just burned the first DVD and watched most of it.  Awesome!

On my 32 inch 1080p LCD flatscreen at 10 feet away with 7.1 surround, its the best non-commercial concert video I've seen and heard, with the exception of Rockpalast.

What sucks is it was my last DVD+R Dual Layer disc, so I'm off to the store this weekend for a spindle.

If folks are having trouble, you can mail me two DVD+R or DVD-R Dual Layer discs.  I will burn them for you.  Send in a reusable envelope and enclose return postage.  That's all I ask.

I use Lightscribe discs, so I will be creating a custom DVD label that is burned into the label side.  If you want that, you'll have to send me two Lightscribe DVD+/-R Dual Layer discs.  I'll post an image of the label once I create it, probably this weekend.

Otherwise, I'll let you label the discs.  I'll just mark 'em 1 and 2 with Post Its.

Again, thanks baustin for sharing this and taking the time to frame, zoom, and otherwise monitor this great recording.  I made it to the first three shows, but this recording provides me with a lot of tunes I didn't see, but really wanted to.  I really appreciate it.

Thank You Too MMJ for letting him record without hassles.  What modesty, confidence, and trust these fine musicians have, such respect for their fans that they let us share their work.  One more reason.  One more reason.

EDIT: Be sure to check that the DVD player you hope to play this on will play dual layer discs.  Your computer likely will, and probably most bluray and game consoles will.  Check your DVD player's manual.

PM or EMAIL for the address.

If you've downloaded the file via torrent, you should be able to watch it using Windows Media Player, right from the hard drive.   Baustin put chapter breaks between each song and WMP doesn't let you jump between chapters, but the burned DVD does.

FYI, I don't think this is actually encouraged by the band.  They have never made a big deal about it before but audio is cool, video is not.   Again, I'm not complaining because I'm reaping the benefits, but I just wanted to pass along what I think is the general policy.

I am interested to know what the band thinks now that you mention it. With so many of their shows available archive and other sources I didn't think one video would be a big deal...However, with the quality attained in this recording being high enough for sales I could see them not liking it to much.

I definitely respect any word from MMJ or management if they want us to cool it with respect to sharing this video.  I don't see anyone talking about selling it, but if video bootlegs cross the line, just say the word.

My offer to help people out if they're having trouble making a copy may have been ill conceived.  I meant well.  If I do make someone a copy, I don't profit in any way except for the love and gratitude I'd expect from a fellow fan.

I wonder... was there any conversation or word from MMJ when Rockpalast came out?  This pro-shot DVD from Germany (2008) was available via some torrent sites and The Steam Engine blog.  It came with labeling that encouraged free sharing.  I have seen one website selling Rockpalast for $20; that shit should be shut down!  Otherwise, I always regarded it as cool since it fell within the spirit of audio recordings- shared without profit.

I have a couple of tech questions. I am running a Macbook pro w/ Leopard as my operating system...perhaps someone who is in a similar boat can explain this to me.

I had a successful download of the files last night...and after downloading a software to read VOB files I was able to watch them all from my computer. Check off step 1.

I then headed out and grabbed some blanks. 4.7gb 120 min. I am assuming standard DVDR's.

This being my first attempt at burning DVD's. I am not sure if the mac is set up with software to burn DVD's. I couldnt figure out iDVD. So I downloaded a free DVD burning software called Burn for the mac.

Anyhow...I can get the files to load...but it will only recognize the .VOB files from the folders and not the other stuff in each file (.IFO, .BUP).

So I loaded up just the VOB files 1-5 from the disc 1 folder...and the last one would not check out. Then I tried burning the 1st 4 files...and it worked. It doesnt load automatically on my DVD player (4 year old samsung), but if you hit next chapter on the remote it loads up...with the intro screen and all that you see in the beginning...but none of the selection features work.

Anyhow...since I only burned the 1st 4 files...I tried to burn the last file on its own disc...but its no dice...reads error. The same thing happened when I went to do disc 2. So I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Looking at the file size of each folder though...maybe the file size is greater than the disc space...maybe that is my problem.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

For those new to the DVD burning game, here are a few things that might help.

1. Click here to download and install utorrent: http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/

2. Click on this link to the Charleston show DVD torrent file: http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=77139&d=1273016643

3. When dialog box opens, click OPEN

4.  utorrent will automatically start the slow download.  Don't shut down your computer until its finished.  Give it overnight.  The file will end up in your DOWNLOADS folder unless you change the destination first.

5.  Open a DVD burning software.

Nero is good but expensive ($80): http://www.nero.com/enu/store-nero10.html

I just bought DVD Cloner 7 for $40: http://www.hermanstreet.com/store/smarthtml/dvd-cloner-7-t20.html?&ICID=AB-DVD%20Cloner%202009-12-14%20t20&mboxSession=1273191973746-742746

Easy DVD Clone is free for 7 days: http://download.cnet.com/Easy-DVD-Clone/3000-7970_4-10416957.html

6. When choosing the files to burn (software might say "add"), browse to the folder you downloaded via utorrent.  It should read "mmj2010-04-28.dvdf".  Open it.

7. Then open the file that reads "mmj2010-04-28_part01.dvd9f".

8. Choose the folder, which should read "VIDEO_TS".  Don't open this folder or try to add the files individually.  Just add the entire VIDEO_TS folder.

9. Be sure to have a DVD+R or DVD-R Dual Layer blank disc in your DVD-RW drive.

10.  Check to see if your burning software requires any additional steps (naming the disc, choosing transfer mode such as hard drive to DVD9, etc.).

11.  When all looks good, check again.  Don't be afraid to hit the BACK button to be sure your ducks are in a row.

12.  Press the BURN button.  Be patient.  Expect 10-30 minutes.  When done, toss the disc in your favorite DVD player, fingers crossed, and HOPEFULLY, you'll melt yo face!

13. Repeat steps 7-12, this time opening the file that reads "mmj2010-04-28_part02.dvd9f".

13.  Don't forget to thank baustin.

Big Ups to baustin for some serious efforts!

I have only watched about half of this so far and I must say Bo is pretty f'in awesome on What a Wonderful Man.  He looks like he loves playin that song.  rightly so, it's one of the few songs where he's on just straight piano.  the video gave me a new appreciation for the song.

the crowd however seems pretty stagnant with the exception of up front.  I get the video was done at the back of the venue but there are so many people who just continuously talk.  the visual of them talking is distracting, we need to pass out "Shut up" signs at shows.

I must say, I paused this DVD long enough to go upstairs and type this post.  At the end of Lay Low, Jim becomes possessed by the soul of Jimmy Page, which is odd as Page isn't dead, so I guess he was just borrowing it.  AWESOME!

Yeah, the audience, particularly from this perspective, is pretty tame.  I'm kind of glad so I can focus on the stage and not all the bee-bopping that should be going down.  But if I was there, I'd be like "what the fuck people, wake up and jump!"  At least there aren't any glowsticks.

Can't wait for my new discs to arrive so I can finally burn the second DVD.  It opens with Steam Engine, so I must see this!

Baustin, I'm going to design a DVD label and box insert.  I'd like your approval before I share it, so I'll be PMing you soon.  Thanks for this.

I like the sign idea. I don't know if this is the right way to think about things, but I'm kind of hoping that mmj fans gain a reputation for having a pleasantly cordial demeanor and a hard edge no bull-shit policy when it comes to people standing between them and the music. I would love for it to become as connected as the deadhead community, and also as dedicated (i think it's getting there!). I know from experience that anyone talking during Stella Blue or So Many Roads received some kind of verbal, if not physical, reprimand.
As the jacket fan base gets bigger, it seems more apparent than ever that the people who really care about the music need to protect the atmosphere...
P.S. i counted 6.5 frat-embraces before the set started on the this vid.  :-*

definitely looked like some heavy bromance action going down back of the crowd.  that classic hand slap/lock->half hug->extended hug->take drink of beer->laugh->talk during tonight/at dawn->turn completely away from the stage as if you're not at a concert->run into other bro and repeat process until something a.) rocking and b.) popular is played.etc.

It would have been cool to see one of those dudes get hit in the nuts by somebody walking by or enjoying the show.  I'd condone and back any and all efforts to nut punch talking dbags at shows.

that lay low was sick indeed.  what jim played wasn't even necessarily "good" it was simply awesome.  lost in the zone.  I really like how he teases the audience on touch me pt. 1 with the cape.  he'll walk towards them and get almost close enough for them to touch him and then he spins away and hides.  make those ladies beg for that shit.  those cross stage spins while soloing are at a new level this tour as well.

Well, I've only watched the first DVD (ran out of DL discs), but it seemed mild compared to the Glowstick Riots in Nashville.

The size of this video requires 2 Dual Layer DVDs.  You can get DVD-R or DVD+R Dual Layer discs.  In some DVD players, DVD-R is recognized, but DVD+R is not.  Also, some DVD players don't recognize Dual Layer discs.  Before you try anything else, look at your DVD player's manual for what disc formats are supported.

The fact that a Mac is involved might also be an issue.  I honestly don't know anything about 'em.

Some software will let you compress large DVD files onto standard (single layer) DVDs.  Picture quality will suffer, however.

If you're still having trouble, PM or email me.

My brother just left for Mexico today so I have to wait 10 days before he gets back to get any more information from him. He only burnt disc 1 and then tested to see if it worked. When it didn't he just stopped, so I do still have a couple DL discs left. I'll just wait until after Sasquatch to get this all figured out. Thanks for the help!

QuoteFor those new to the DVD burning game, here are a few things that might help.

Back in June, I was checking out a You Tube posting of One Big Holiday from the Charleston show and read the following comment:

"My buddy[ch65279] Tim took myself and my now-wife to this show[ch65279] as our wedding gift (not to mention the Ben Harper show the night prior at HOB in Myrtle) and wins best wedding gift ever honors for eternity. This was the best live music performance I have seen to this day. Thank you for the glimpse back to what that night was and how monumental in time this concert was is my life. Long live MMJ and Jim James is the baddest mother effer to rock out with a "duck hunt" gun on his hip"

I sent the author of this comment the following message:

"Hey,

I read your comment from the One Big Holiday clip from the Charleston My Morning Jacket show. First, congrats on your wedding. How about this for a wedding present? I have the complete Charleston show on 2 DVDs. It was recorded by a fellow MMJ fan who posted it on the MMJ fan forum. I will make you a nice copy, with disc labelling and a 2-disc case with insert. I offer this to you as a fan and don't ask for anything in return. Consider it another wedding present.

Here's a link to the posting about the DVD on the MMJ fan forum.

http://www.mymorningjacket.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1273017054

On page 5 of this thread, you'll see the disc labelling and case insert I've created. I'm out of blank discs and 2-disc DVD cases, so I'm putting an order in to Amazon as soon as I'm done with this message. So, it might be a couple of weeks.

If you're interested, send me and email and mailing address: johnnYYac@comcast.net

Take care,

John"

I didn't hear back until early August, when I got this email:

"First off, really cool of you to take the time to write me and offer such an amazing gift to someone you don't even know just based on a mutual love and appreciation of such an amazing band. This was my first MMJ show but my wife had seen them twice before, once in Austin at ACL and once in Boston with the Boston Pops! She turned me on to them and have been a better person because of it. My address is REMOVED FOR PRIVACY. Let me know if I can do anything in return for such generosity.

Sincere Thanks,
Andy"

So, I burned the discs and mailed 'em to the newlyweds, along with a copy of Acoustic Chorale.  I've since gotten a very nice, post-wedding thank you note from his wife and an email from Andy.

If ANYONE here has not yet made DVDs of this show, please let me know.  I watched it last night, knowing many others were rocking out with MMJ in Canandaigua, NY.  I was in concert mode, used my wireless headphones for my sleeping family's sake, and rocked out in my living room.  I went outside to listen to I'm Amazed whilst looking at the stars.  Perfect!

Perfect!

Great storty John!  Spreading the love one fan at a time!  8-)

For those of you who have macs, i figured out how to view it on the dvd player on the mac.

These are just the steps I took so:
After you download the file, go into iDVD and click on Project, then Project Info

In almost the top right, it says DVD Type: Change it from Single Layer to Double Layer

Click on Advanced at the top
-Edit DVD-Rom Contents
--Add Files
---Just add the download

Then just go on over to DVD Player
-At the top, File
--Open DVD Media

Should come right on
Now, I'm not sure all that stuff with iDVD is necessary, but that's how I got the thing to finally work, so maybe try going straight into DVD Player and if it doesnt work go back and do the iDVD thing

Thanks Baustin, the video is awesome.  You might even say, "I'm Amazed"  wah wah

Yeah, I know.  I was trying to reference the blues felt by everyone after a heavy MMJ October (Fallon-Letterman-Portland-Ramble-T5 x 5- L'ville-Voodoo) and the void to follow.  I was also trying to make a play on the song title.  Fixed.

The only problem with watching this in concert mode is that I don't think I'd ever, intentionally, be that far away from the stage. ;D

Great minds think alike.

I recently got a nice note from Brian Austin, the taper/videographer, thanking me for promoting this recording and getting over 20 copies to folks worldwide.  He shared the original HD footage with me as a treat.  Fantastic.  I've got the discs and cases to make 10 more copies, for below cost (around $6).  PM or email.

Kinda quiet around here, so I'll give you something to read.

Getting ready to listen to the 7 song encore of this show.  I couldn't make it past One Big Holiday last night, the problem with having a couch nearby.

At a real show, you make it through without a doubt, broken bones, bad backs, the whole shootin' match.  Seeing folks in casts and on crutches on their feet for over 3 hours!

Its great having a show from this tour documented so well.  I caught the first 3 shows in April.  Charleston was #7.  Jim in his wild west Duck Hunt get up, the tunes, the PHJB, so much like my experiences before, plus Steam Engine and Dancefloors!  October was a wonderful month for MMJ fans, but April was pretty sweet, too!

Somewhere... over the rainbow!

Hey Johnny, this was my favorite show of the tour.  I was 2nd row on Carl's side and it was the first time I met Ms. Y.  Even better was that I had been studying the setlists of the tour and had certain expectations so I was completely blown away when they totally switched it up.  My top show outside of T5.

Wow, somehow I missed that you were at this show (and you probably told me) with Ms. Yvon.  It did offer some nice changes to what had been a fairly static setlist for the first three I attended (though the Eminence Front into to OBH was spectacular).

I noticed last night, finishing my (probably) 5th full viewing of this DVD, that Carl really got into it during Dancefloors, very energetic.  It must've been great up front.

I need to show Carl's side of the stage more love.  I tried to in Portland, but it was heavily populated with tall people, so me and my wife ended up in front of Jim's mic stand, per usual.  T5 was more central but I'd love to spend more time, and focus, on Carl's side of the stage.

I've ended up on Carl Side very often recently, and I always love it. But during the T5 run, most of our bunch OCCUPIED what I am now dubbing Tom Side, and it was wonderful. :)

My girlfriend and I were front row-stage left for this show and she asked a fellow mmj fanatic to take pictures with her camera of the show and myself and to then email them back to my girlfriend post-show. She never received them (forgotten or wrong email). Would this mystery girl by chance be reading this and still have those pictures?  That would update your status from a mystery to magical.  :)

By my best estimation, I believe- tonight- I have burned my 30th set of this DVD.  Its gone out to approximately 16 states and 4 countries.  I appreciate the chance to spread cool shit like this and appreciate the feedback.  The guy who taped this show contacted me to thank me for spreading the word.  I want to thank baustin for making it available.  During this hiatus, something like the Charleston DVDs becames quite valuable.  I'm thinking such recent live performances will better inform us of what they're doing in studio right now and what we'll hear from the new album.

Anyway, as I said in another post, I've got some work to do, so...

If you mean, "will this disc play on a BluRay player?", it should.  I've watched my copy on my LG BD390 BluRay player at least once every few weeks without problems.

i meant exporting the video to a BluRay disc. Imagine since the video is HD it should work. i'm going to download and give it a shot.

You're not going to see any difference in quality if you burn DVD files to Blu-Ray.  The DVD video is lossy, with a resolution of 480 lines.  HD files have a resolution of 1080 lines.  Most Blu-Ray players will upconvert DVDs to HD, but the quality won't be the same as having the original HD content from the camera.  The person who recorded the show would have to upload the original HD files for you to download and then burn to Blu-Ray so that you can have the greatest quality.

I put the Rockpalast DVD on YouTube some time ago. Using something like KeepVid Pro, you can download a 720p mp4 (1.16 GB) that can then be burned to DVD.
