So the wife & I just got back from what was supposed to be our last show of the year, The National in San Diego, with Hand Habits opening. 5th National show of the year for us, with two of those being in Lisbon (my wife's first time to Europe). So for 2023, on top of the 5 National shows, we saw MMJ twice (San Diego & Hollywood Bowl), Deer Tick twice (headlining and opening for Jason Isbell), M. Ward, Lukas Nelson at the awesome Pappy & Harriett's, Band Of Horses, Modest Mouse, Pixies, Cat Power, and some pasty Brits as well with The Cure, Love & Rockets, Ride, & The Charlatans, plus more. Not a bad year.
But on Friday I saw that Lukas Nelson posted about Lokahi, a benefit concert for Maui next month, with Lukas Nelson, Jack Johnson, Nathaniel Rateliff, Paula Fuga, Lily Meola, Donavon Frankenreiter, & Promise Of The Real. And the show happens the day after the 21st anniversary of my first date with my wife. So we're going to go to Maui to celebrate and take in the show. That's a hell of an addition to our concert calendar, and I'm pretty stoked, especially if Willie can stop by for a song or two with his son.
And, icing on the cake, we added another Donavon Frankenreiter show on December 30th when my brother-in-law and his girl come down to visit. Here's to an awesome 2023!!
And for 2024 I have tickets to see Ride & The Charlatans (again, an extension of the tour they did last year) and OBH in April. Thinking of adding Futurebirds with The Nude Party (TNP were great earlier this year, went to see them with Breanna Barbara in April for my 50th birthday).
