Man this is a great show. Killer Steam and Mahgeetah, and not an hour into the set! Cobra, The Dark, perfect Harrison and Dylan (wow that was good) covers, bananas. Kept hearing about this one, you folks who were there sure saw an awesome concert! Just watched it a second time. What rock band has this range and still blows the doors off?
The high quality product MMJ is putting out to fill the gap and help lift spirits is beautiful.
THANK YOU JOHNNY!!!! What a fun event that was with all ya'll fans, hope you guys watched til the very end there was some hilarious thing about bananas after the credits and during the credits they credit Ryan Pickett as: Ryan "Grandma" Pickett.
fucking love this band. that show is so heavy. The Dark into Holdin On was heavy as fuuuuuck. the second the first note of Holdin comes in it's very appropriate right then. that song is always so bizarre to me but it really really really works in a place like Forecastle 2012 right after The Dark, it just worked.
Seeing them less than a month after this that same summer, what a tour....
I heard a lot more phaser than normal during the 2019 shows, you can hear it clearly during the intro to Way That He Sings, all the way through War Begun and I Will Sing You Songs, sounds really good, what phaser is it??? can't be the Hot Hand one they were using for a while it sounds far too perfect and subtle, can't be a EHX Small Stone.
Also, one must really highlight the growing importance of Jim's Boss Octave pedal, that pedal is so key to his tone. I wonder how long he's been using it, I know it seemed to turn up to my ears in late 2011 or even early 2012 cause its searing madness is there 100% by 2012's Phone Went West, Dondante, Picture of You, etc, i wonder if Jim's been using that pedal in subtle less in your face ways for a while now. It's a great piece of my board and you can get that wailing Jim tone on demand if you're a good enough player.
