Zycarblobz, siddown for your football lesson.

How the AFC is getting stronger.

Let's look at the year's playoff entrants. Denver won a division that also had San Diego and KC....two teams only getting better. SD has a dynamic offense and Merriman was rookie of the year. Bolts didn't even make the playoffs, AFC is so tough. KC ...give Larry Johnson a full year at RB. He only started 9 games. Herm Edwards will be great there as well. Oakland blew this year but give Randy Moss and Lamont Jordan next year before ruling them out of the game.

Cincy is only getting better. I think that's, as W would say, the common consensus. Pittsburgh's third-string RB gained 1300 yards this year...and Pittsburgh also managed to get this far while losing one of the top WRs in football last off-season to free agency.

Indy, despite the choke, is still a force. As is NE. If you were paying attention, you may have noticed what Miami did under Saban. And the NYJ were considered a playoff contender entering last year. Injuries wrecked that.

In the NFC you have phonies like TB, Washington, Chicago...please. This is so not debatable I can't believe you make me waste my time teaching you.

I didn't even mention a 12-4 Jacksonville....case closed.

or the NFC could be having a down year. Head to head AFC won this year over NFC 32-29. Not a big difference. We'll have to wait to see if your theory pans out.

I really wish I cared more to do an NFC run down...it's pretty irrelevant.

tracy... please don't argue about football with my husband because if he gets all pissed, *I* will have to eat it...  ;D

i'm gonna say that........ you're both right. i have long tried to push forth the theory that historical stats don't mean shit. a team is different from week to week, not to mention year to year. nobody expected chicago to be in the playoffs and nobody thought the raiders would suck so hard... it's all speculation. if anyone could accurately predict the yearly outcome bookies would be out of business.

everything sucks. really.

Or how about looking at it this way: if the conferences were comingled, where would the teams rank? most likely, you'd have at least five of the top six slots occupied by AFC teams.

OK, not really sure I care. But thanks for the info.
