Like the subject says, sure is quiet round here these days. Nobody seems to post like they used to...
Hope everyone is OK, just busy?

Haven't seen Mr. T around for a while, hope you're OK friend...
Tracy, I miss your sharp wit!  ;) Seriously, come back soon.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Hi, DB!
My bro' mr T is busy moving, might be without internet for the moment too. As for the rest, you can't blame 'em if they're on a tropical island sipping cocktails instead of posting here  8)

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

ratsprayer

ohio feels tropical enough these days, with temps in the upper 80s and lows 90s with 80% humidity.  no tropical drinks though, just beer here.   ;)

BH

We just had a rip roarin' storm come thru here in St. Louis and about 500,000 households were without power for several days.  This happened last Wednesday night and some people still don't have power.  It's cooled off a bit but it was almost 100 on Friday.  Luckily we never lost our power,  just siding and pear trees!

How many pear trees have to lose their lives before we start planting different trees?

I'm not on a tropical island, but feel I might as well be. Never known a heat wave like this. It's been like this for weeks. It's exhausting (reminds me of that Joe Walsh song "I can't complain but sometimes I still do")
Hello dragonboy by the way  :D

Haha, don't us Brits say that every year? You can bet your bottom pence it'll be cold & wet when I hit Heathrow on the 16th of Sept! Good to see you Doc, you're up late!  :)

Cheers Ali, I'm hoping it will be sunny but not too hot when we go to the UK, it's 90 something here today & I'm dying!
Sept should be cool...

I have always been down with the metric system...it kills my that America is like the ONLY  country in the world that still uses inches and feet and the feirenheit measurements.  C'mon America, jump on the metric wagon!

jrat

i come by when i can, but my job, combined witht his heat is beyond unbearable. it seems almost everyday, someone at work pukes cause it so fucking hot. the otherday it was 46C(after humidex of course, 36 without) on a roof we were doing. thank god my boss is no drill Sgt. and sent us home before 3. i just cant stay awake in the evening after 10 hour days of hot tar, 2000 degree F torches and all the fibreglass you can wear( thinking about starting a new clothing line!). i got in my eyes and had to go to the hospital, so i couldnt see my comp for 2 days. Cant wait to start a trade i LIKE.

One of the only hold-overs from Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau's forced move to metric back in the early 70's is in the weight of new-born babies, which are often still done in pounds and ounces - same with weighing grown people in general.

BTW, I have no idea how much I weigh metrically and would have a difficult time telling you how tall I am. However, the old school temperature methods, especially when measuring cold temps, is fucked up. Same with gallons vs litres and inches vs centimetres etc...

ali

oz went metric in the late 60s, but people still refer to feet & inches for things like height... weight of babies is still described in pounds (which is kind of silly, as everyone then has to go convert it to kgs to work out how heavy the kid is!)
but ask me how far a mile is... no idea.

inches vs centimetres is fairly easy - 2.5cm = 1 inch

don't you have regulations about working at high or low temps? i know that here, particularly with roofing, there are lots of regs about the conditions you can & can't work in. that's crazy expecting people to do that kind of hard & dangerous work in those kind of temperatures!!!

jrat

theres regulations yeah, but its my friends fathers company, and im at his house everyday after werk swimming, drinking there all weekend, its almost a second home. i even cook dinner from time to time! so when the time budget gets tight, i cant pull out the "legally i can go home" card. if the boss stays and werks his ass of too, then how could i possibly leave. if ididnt know the family so well, id have left a long time ago, hell i never woulda started!!!
And i wear a huge pair of goofy looking goggles for werk now, as to avoid fibreglass caked eyeballs.
....speaking of tight budgets, todays day off due to rain = working saturday instead of going to the cottage....awwww pisss!!!! just keeps getting better and better

Mr. T.

Hi peeps,

I've been working like a madman these last couple of weeks. I moved from Ghent to Antwerp, which is, in belgian terms, a pretty big move! I'm very happy the result turned out OK! My new crib is just swell! We even have a terrace now, go imagine 8)

Besides that I did a huge job  revising my dissertation. It's finished now, so the holidays are  really starting for me, wich is nice...

Tomorrow I'm leaving with my girlfriend to the Alps to do some hicking and some kicking back on my lazy ass with a good bottle of wine...

And the best part of the story is:
when I'll be back, it'll only be four days 'till I finally get to see the Jacket back at Pukkelpop! Oh how I've missed them... ;D
Chills, you'd better start fasten your seatbelts for that one, it's gonna be epic, I feel it...(you know where I tend to feel these kind of things ;) )

So, tonight I'll be packing my backs and tomorrow I'm off. See you all pretty soon, and i hope you all have a splendid rockin' summer out there! ciao
