Nothing new. I've hated Tracy since he insinuated that I was a bad teacher.  I thought that that was below the belt, but I guess some of you are into that.   :-/  Personally, I hope he never comes back.

Hate? Man, you still dragging that around? I thought we had buried that thing, guess not. All I did was challenge you (as an educator) to not say that one of your students "sucks". You ran with the rest of it man. It pissed me off that you were saying one of your students "sucked", I stated my thoughts, the next thing I know, you are playing the  I N S I N U A T I O N  game, and I had somehow said you're a bad teacher. How would I know if you're a bad teacher or not? And why the fuck should you care what some idiot on a message board "insinuates" anyway? I never said you were a bad teacher. PERIOD. I just challenged you on how you define your students b/c most of them will grow into the label adults give them. I got nothing but props for anyone going into the teaching proffession, and I know a thing or two when it comes to working with difficult young people. I got no way of knowing if you're a good or bad teacher, that's your trip dude, not mine. I'd challenge you to get over it.

I'm over all that Dylan and a bit suprised you're still carrying around something I never said, and I'd love to figure out how to get you to bury it and things can be peaceful with you and me. But I get the feeling you don't want to, so, I'll not give you anymore shit about the Bengals or anything man, I thought this shit was in the past. I won't respond to you anymore, but I have made some friends here and I'll be hanging out here for a while, so we'll just have to share the space.

Best I just stay away from you on the board. Seriously. I don't want anyone to hate me, especially over something "insinuated", when all that happened (IMO) was me being pissed and challenging you. Would love to buy you a beer one day at a Jacket show and apologize for the misunderstanding and all that is good would be good. If you remember, I PM'd you that day and said this conversation would be different in person and there would not be this misunderstanding. I think we both remember your response.

Brian here says you're a good guy, and I believe him because Brian's a good guy. All we can do is try.

I'm here for the love of the music and to have some fun. That's all. Not here to make enemies over insinuations. I could totally egg this on and keep the "hate" going, but that ain't me.

For the record, I never said one of my students sucked.  In fact, the young man I was complaining about I am still in contact with this to this day even though he is no longer at my school.  I feel for him and his awful situation.  I wish him all the best.  However, I also feel for the students at my school who were affected by him until he got sent to a more suitable institution for an individual as deeply emotionally scarred as he is.  This situation is what I described as sucking.  Tracy may not understand that sentiment but I bet the kids he beat up do.  

As for all the other stuff Tracy said, I don't know, I've got to mull it over.

as a future educator, I'm going to go ahead and say that the personal details, regardless of whether or not anyone will ever know this kids identity, are something very personal and we honestly don't need to read about that here. student/teacher confidentiality is something sacred, regardless of the anonymity of the student. i can understand why tracy challenged you if you gave this detail in a different conversation. keep the details at school. we'll certainly hear it if you're worn out or stressed or bummed because of a student, but we really don't need to know everything, especially with something so sensitive. your student deserves that from you, i don't care how hard he is. your genuine care can change someone's world. not just your professional concern, but your true care and concern. i'm not going to tell you how to do your job. you've got years of experience over me, but that's my immediate response to what you just said. i think Tracy was perfectly justified in responding with some emotion in that conversation if you approached like you did just now.

  I like both Tracy AND Dylan as well.  They are both very intelligent and big hearted people.  This is an unfortunate situation.  Hopefully there is a happy ending involved...............and by happy ending I do mean "handjob".  :-*
