This is not meant to be a long winded political discussion site( But I guess if you want to state your views, that's ok).  More of an informal poll.

I'm thinking Barack

Why do I see this thread being 7 pages long?

i agree with almost all of Obama's views. from health care to iraq to the war on drugs. its time we have a fresh face in the white house that hasnt gotten into the corruption and dishonesty that goes on in washington (although, everyone is involved to some degree, some not as much as others). he reminds me of JFK i guess. i also dont agree with a monarchy which has been going on in this country since 1980. there has been a bush or clinton in the white house since then.

Penny Lane

he's better than JFK--

i agree w/almost none of his policies (40% capital gains tax?) BUT i think he's going to be good for the morale--(which leads to a better economy, foreign relations, etc)

i'm still pretty much undecided but I'm leaning towards Hilary just because she's been there before and knows what she's getting into.  It really doesn't matter what I think though because I'm registered independent.  I think that should mean I could vote in both primaries but unfortunately it means I can't vote in either.

Barack all the way. Now, if only I was allowed to vote.

I most definitely am pulling for Barack.  Hillary cannot be trusted.

And she was a member of the board of Wal-mart, thus never getting my endorsement

Speak for yourself, I know plenty.  They got round bacon, most of the population lives down here on Clearwater Beach during the winter (we beg of you to please leave the Speedos at home next year), and they pronounce the letters "ou" with an oooo sound.  So there.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

Anybody remember Vince Foster?

Barack would have just as much on him, if not more, if he had done anything up to this point. He hasn't even served a full term as a senator. He wrote a book and speaks very well, that qualifies him to be a motivational speaker, not leader of the free world. It's easy to have no dirt in your past when you haven't done anything in your past. just saying.

Also, I would like the idea of a washington outsider coming in and changing things if it were actually viable, but the establishment is so "established" that no new kid on the block is going to be able to coming in and changes things without facing MAJOR resistance.  Hilary would at least have some chance of changing some things for the better from within the system.

I can say without any doubt that Canadians follow American politics almost as much as Americans (moreso depending on the region and/or state). We know you better than any other country in the world by a mile (or 1.3 kilometres). Everything the U.S. does affects Canadians, and in particular political policies and leaders. I know that if Canadians could, Barak and/or Hillary would get most of our votes.

;D I've mentioned him several times, but sadly, not too many people are hip to Hillary killing Vince apparently (or at least having a hand in it)...if you happen to subscribe to that conspiracy theory.

Are you sure the speedo-wearers aren't Europeans? We Canucks find speedos as repugnant as you Yanks do - although I count for Quebec "snowbirds". We also have the regular kind of bacon and we don't call back-bacon or pemeal bacon "Canadian bacon" like you folks do. As for the "ou" with an "oooo" sound, well that's sort of true as a basic and simple generalization depending on what part of the country you are from. That sort of inflection seems to me more prevelant in rural areas and with older generations. We don't say "eh" that much anymore either... I tell you what (there's an Americanism for ya).

or maybe he is not a crook? well as much as a politician can not be anyway. maybe the reason why he doesnt have some shady spots in his past is because he doesnt involve himself in those type activities.
