QuoteI agree the cards are stacked against Ohio St., but all it really takes in the BCS is to get the computers on your side, a couple of impressive wins down the stretch, and some help. A win over Penn State would vault OSU way up in the puters, and wins over Northwestern, Illinois, and a smackdown on Big Blue would put the Buckeyes right back on top. That, and OU, USC, and 2 Bama losses, of course. I'm not saying I want that to happen, but it could.

As for the OSU ;), if you like the Cowboys' chances in Austin, you haven't seen the recent history between these two. We are seriously snakebit against the Horns recently - 3 of Texas' 5 largest comebacks in their history have come against OSU, and just in the last 4 years: 21 pts in 2007, 19 pts in 2005, and 28 pts in 2004. That one was in Austin, OSU led 35-7 in the first half, and Texas score 49 unanswered points to win 56-35. I would dearly love to see OSU quit doing this, but I don't think this is the year. If we get out to a lead on them again, I'm going to turn off the tv and go rake leaves - I will not be able to watch another OSU meltdown.

Aint happening. PSU will win this, so we might as well quit the conversation

Penny - were gonna win, but, I dont know if ill be pumped or have nausea come saturday night...poop on the buckeyes!!!!

i feel great because for once, the pressure's not on us...we haven't played that well all season (apart from last week) like i said, i'll be happy if you guys win---you can finish out the season undefeated and get a birth-i'd love to see Joe Pa go all the way---
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

If he won a big BCS game, what are the odds he retires gracefully? Or will he stick around until he's an empty shell, ala the train wreck at Florida State.

Try to see the bigger picture here--Joe Pa IS PSU football--if he retires, he won't live past a year-guaranteed. Football is what keeps him alive, he has no other hobbies. PSU community/fans know this and that's part of the beauty of having him there. They feel good knowing that he's still part of the fam. Even though we steal a lot of their recruits, there are still a lot of kids whose parents want them to play for his regime.  i don't like the bobby bowden comparisons--joe pa is class all the way and he deserves respect. there are a lot of naysayers who want him to retire--but at this point, what's the point. Let him die a happy man, still sitting up in that box :-)

First off, hes only been sitting in the box a few weeks bc his arthiritis, I believe thats what it is, is too bad. Apparently he needs hip replacement surgery, but hes putting it off til season's end.

And yes, he said recently football is his life, he wouldnt know what to do if he retired. You should know this as good as anyone Ewok since Bear Bryant died only a few months after he retired. He doesnt want to pull a Bear.

I think if we win it all, that gives the least chance for him retire/leave. If we win it all, what recruits are gonna want to come here if JoePa is gone after we just won it?! Even though most know, Tom Bradley will be a hell of a head coach once JoePa is done.

I felt weird cheering against an SEC team, but I just couldn't help hoping Auburn would lose.

It's sad that Mississippi State will probably lose homecoming against Middle Tennessee. That's just how they do.  :(
Evey: Are you, like, a crazy person?
V: I am quite sure they will say so.

What's the line on MSU? I saw someone pick MTSU to win by ten.

Wow, we finally agree on something Brad. I think I might have to watch the NE/TN 1998 Orange Bowl to watch the Huskers thrash the Vols. It's truly magical for any anti Tennessee fan.

Penn State with their first win in 30 years AT OSU

Great win

All I can ask for is Texas or Bama loses

Id rather play Texas (for winning reasons), but Id rather play Bama (for rivalry with a friend reasons)

That said, I think Texas has a big test this week vs. Tech in Lubbock. I think Tech is likely going to win that game. Texas just doenst have the D to hold them

Yeah, I thought it was funny that the Penn State fans were chanting "We Want Texas!" at the end of tonight's game... I was just thinking, "Yeah, I bet you do!" I guess I've got to give Texas some credit, though, the Longhorns have a pretty good defense for their conference. Mack Brown picked up Nick Saban's favorite SEC Defensive Coordinator and it's paying off.

I don't know who I like in the Texas v. Texas Tech game. Tech just looked kind of lame, today, wracking up the score 60+ on a well-done Kansas team, so I'd like to see the Longhorns smoke them in a similar fashion.

As a Bammer, I'd rather take on Texas and Penn State than have to see either Florida or a rematch with Georgia in the SEC Championship (Alabama should be able to seal the West with this 2+ lead). Those two hooked 50+ points on LSU and I've been expecting us to lose to the Tigers all season long.

That was a tough loss, but a good game.  I'm definitely rooting for Penn St. from here on out though.  I hope that an SEC team doesn't make the championship for two reasons: 1) obviously I dislike the SEC, 2) it may just cause enough of an uproar to change the BCS system.

So, the SEC Championship game will most likely be Alabama visiting the winner of #6 Georgia v. #8 Florida. Is the BIG 12 Championship going to be the winner of #1 Texas v. #7 Texas Tech visiting the winner of Kansas v. #14 Missouri?

How sweet would January be if we saw this kind of matchup?

Alabama v. Texas
Florida v. Texas Tech
Georgia v. Missouri
LSU v. Kansas

That would be nice to see those games one way or another.  Looking at those matchups I would predict a split.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Angry Ewok

By the way, I just took the Top 2 from each division... It'd be much interesting to see LSU v. Oklahoma (Oklahoma would spank them). I think almost every team in the SEC with two conference wins or better could beat Kansas.

Alabama v. Texas - Very close game. I'm a fan, so I've got to pick BAMA right away. Who knows? Maybe we'll get to see this matchup in January.

Florida v. Texas Tech - Florida, no contest. Unless Tech does something special this weekend, I've had no reason to think the Red Raiders could respond well to getting smacked in the mouth.

Georgia v. Missouri - This could be a funny matchup, since these two teams have had some serious up's and down's at times. Georgia, moreso. Sometimes, Georgia is the best team in the country. They beat LSU like a drum. Sometimes, they're an average SEC team. 50/50 on this one.

LSU v. Kansas - LSU, no contest.

Still, those games would be worthy of a box set DVD. Good football.
