QuoteYou got to love Texas Tech coach Mike Leach. When asked about the 3 way tie and what he feels about Oklahoma going to the Big 12 title game, he said that it should have been decided based on graduation rates and that the Big 12 comittee should have an emergency meeting to pass this through.

BTW, Texas tech is #1 in graduation rate, Texas is 11th and Oklahoma is 12th.

oh wow that is NOT a good way to break the tie --i'm VERY against that kind of logic  ;D
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

Quotehey crispy, you going to the game? should be a classic!

dave, sorry to see your tigers go down like that :-/
Yup, I went - it was a crazy roller coaster ride from start to finish! OSU had their chances to stay in the game but OU just had too much firepower (as well as several fortuitous bounces of the ball) and we couldn't get a stop on defense when we needed it.
As for the OU/Texas debacle, I don't have a problem with ranking OU ahead, there are valid arguments both ways but I think OU's better at this point in the season. However, I would rather use the SEC's 3-way tiebreaker, that is, throw out the 3rd-lowest BCS ranked team, then take the head-to-head winner.
Leach's comments are great, typical good stuff from him.
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

I'm all for tradition, but not at the expense of costly timeouts. Go Bruins!
Evey: Are you, like, a crazy person?
V: I am quite sure they will say so.

Angry Ewok

How hilarious would it be if they lost the game on account of not having those time outs? I know we're talking about UCLA and all, but I would hope most coaches would never think of taking away their timeouts on account of tradition, no matter who the opponents are...

Yet another head coach is processed by Nick Saban.

Tubberville pretty much owned the Crimson Tide (6 in a row before this year and 7-3 overall) so I'm sure Bama fans are glad to see him leave.

Saban had some interesting comments about Tubs leaving Auburn:

"I really question some of the judgment," Saban said, "relative to how it is for our game that people who have those kind of relationships and have done that kind of job and affected so many people in a positive way -- and have had a reasonable amount of success relative to their circumstances -- would not be given more respect and consideration than what these guys have been. So I guess we're 5-7 away from the same thing."

Pretty sure Tubberville didn't give 2 shits about his "relationships" with the Ole Miss alumni and players when he lied and left with such "respect and consideration". And the same can be said about Saban. Give me a break, does he think we're stupid? What's with these prima donna football coaches who make millions of dollars, who lie to young atheletes and their fans, then turn in to titty babies when the karma comes around?

Pretty sad coming from Saban who sort of facilitated this wishy-washy head coach jumping around, leaving LSU after 5 years to go to the pros, then left the Dolphins after 2 years (after lying about it saying he was staying, which led Don Shula to call him a "raging fraud") for greener pastures at Bama. It'll come around back to him eventually; but he'll be rich, so who cares?

It's big business now, and you can thank the Sabans and Tubbervilles and Petrinos of the world. I mean, some sports people are talking about Petrino coming to Auburn now after 1 year at Arkansas. Appalling.

Thank God for these guys and their loyalty, huh?

Yeah, Saban has no room to talk on an issue like that.

yes, it sure "sounds" like it. Too bad that isn't the case.

(you obviously haven't been keeping up with Tubs and Saban lying to everyone under the sun about their intentions of staying with a program when they knew very well the whole time they were leaving. These guys are salesmen and politicans.)

Funny thing about Saban though, I always like what he has to say.  But after hearing him talk with different colors on (on his terms) every other year he kind of loses credibility.

You all can talk about Saban having no class, and how he mismanaged his situation at Miami, but he's done a lot to turn some of these young men's lives around and the results of that positive influence can been seen on the football field. Talk all you want about class, but I've met several of Saban's players and they absolutely love the man for what he's done for their lives.

We love him, you hate him. That's the way it's supposed to be, I guess.

Like Tubberville, you love him b/c he wins games. You will get rid of him when he starts losing. It has nothing to do with the man's character at all (for you) it has to do with W's.

I knew some of the Ole Miss players when Tuberville left. Some of those kids decided to come to Ole Miss just to play for him and he flat out lied to them and said he was not going to Auburn. These young men sacrificed one of the biggest decisions in their lives just to be lied to and taken advantage of. Saban did the equivilant to a pro team, but don't think for 1 second it would have been any different with a college team.

Saban is getting paid to have a positive impact on the young athelete's lives, that's his job. He's an excellent salesman and politician and preacher and football coach. But please don't bore me with the notion that you love him for any other reason than being 12-0. He could be 1-11 and the greatest human in the world; he could be Jesus Christ, but at 1-11 his integrity, his passion, his classiness, his abilty to "turn some of these young men's lives around" becomes irrelevant and then it is time for him to go. Then it gets to the point of, "Who cares if he is impacting the players on a positive level or not, The Tide is losing so he has to go." It's not about the players man, it's about the money and the W's.

I don't think Saban is a good person, regardless if he wins or loses b/c I can look at the person objectively and consider his track record. You, on the other hand, have to consider which GAMES Alabama wins or loses to figure out if you love him or not.

Thus the nature of college sports (for some). Paul Bear Bryant is turning in his grave.

By bettering their lives, do you mean their thankful he's made them the #1 team in the country, allowing them to get more hot southern poontang than in their wildest dreams?? If so, then I agree with you.

My buddy graduated from Bama this year and while he says Saban is the best recruiter in the country and a great coach (and hes right), he can at least admit Saban is someone he wouldnt trust for a second and whose morals/reasoning are questionable

I'm sure Michigan State fans, LSU fans and a couple of Miami Dolphin fans felt the same way.  You'll hate him soon enough.

Great college coach.  Suspect man?  But, as its been said, "Few things are more important in Alabama than football and the men who know how to win at it."

With that said, UA's season has been a huge succes, regardless of the next two games.   And, the next few years look to be even better.  :-/
