Theyre actually very similar to PIT this year, with the biggest difference probably being Eli and Roeth seemed to have swapped their penchant for throwing INTs. Paired with the GMen having a better ground attack and the Steelers a better D

So not that similar?

C'mon Cap.  Your Steelers are only 1 game ahead of my crappy, pretending Jets.  That defense has been sick and a tough run D is a necessity against the Giants.  The Ravens also had a good run D and well...the Giants mistreated them in a cruel way.  Lots of "ifs" still and your inconsistent O could be your downfall.

P.S.  Thanks for Faneca, clearly the right financial move for you guys but equally worth it for us.

I was too busy watching us ramshackle New England to see what happened to NYJ this weekend, but I think theyre a legit playoff team as long as they rely on TJ and Leon enough. I dont understand why they never go deep though now that Noodlearm is gone. I think that makes it easier for D's to key on them.

GMen did roll up 200 on the Ratbirds for the 1st time since the Steelers did it 11 years ago, but we already held them to 84 yards rushing, so I know we can handle it.

The OLine is the our achilles, but theyre coming around now, which makes sense since theres 4 new guys since last season and 2 of them werent even starters at the beginning of the season. The next few games will be a great barometer (DAL, BAL, TEN).

If DAL beats us, its because we lose in turnovers, mark it down.

I have no problem with other people overlooking us or thinking were overrated. Ill see what you think come January  8-)

I agree with above...you have a lot of "ifs" in your posts.  Good teams force turnovers.  Good teams also avoid turning the ball over.  Just about every team in the NFL can say if we don't turn the ball over we have a good chance of winning.  You have to give credit to the teams who beat you.  If Ben throws 3 ints it is probably because the D forced him to.  You got beat by Philly and Indy....there are no excuses.  Giants lost to Cleveland...I could make 100 excuses and reasons why but the bottom line is at the end of the game they had more points and won.

I don't think Pitt and the Giants are similar at all.  Giants have a better run game, more consistent offense overall, they don't turn the ball over, way better O line.....and Giants D might not be as good on paper but they are def one of the best in the league.  Tuck is an absolute stud and i'd put him up there with anyone on your D.  They just held the leading rusher in the NFL to 22 yards.

I only see 1 "if" in that post, and its not like a sequence of 'ifs'..either Dallas beats us or they dont  ;D

I understand its tougher to win when you lose in TO's. I was just trying to say that if we dont turn the ball over, were pretty tough to beat. Seeing as how we were -4 in TO's vs NYG and only lost by 7 and -3 to Indy and only lost by 4 proves that.

We havent fumbled much, its mostly just been on Ben. Most of his picks have been careless plays where he tries to force the ball into coverage or on a tightly covered receiver. The 1 he threw against NE was just poor thinking though. Im sure the line has something to do with this, and his shoulder to a lesser degree, but he needs to just take care of the ball more

And ok, I take back that similarity statement  :-[

I don't think you were that off on comparing the Giants to Steelers. Giants have a running game like we USUALLY do, just not this season.  I think somebody from Baltimore after the loss to NY said that playing them is like playing the Steelers, with the defense and running game. If Willie gets healthy we could see a running game develop still.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Considering how bad the OLine is, I think the running game has been solid (though theyre worse at pass blocking). Whether its been FWP or Mewelde, theyve consistently been over 4 YPC each game that I can think of.

No, it hasnt been as dominating as past running games, but its been serviceable or better

Well Plax is done for the year and most likely for the Giants and I'm sort of happy.  He's been nothing but a pain in the A#$ss since he's been with the team.  Great player, just someone who does not understand how lucky he is to be playing a kids game and getting paid bigtime for it.  I mean how hard it really to stay out of trouble and just play the game after you sign a 35 million dollar contract?  I'm glad the Giants stepped up and did it themselves before waiting for the League or the Police to do what they are going to do.  I don't think it will be as much of a distraction now that he's gone.  Giants may not win the Superbowl this year but I don't think it will have anything to do with him not being on the team.

While I agree with most of what you said, the Giants could've/should've suspended him earlier but they waited for the doctor's report that said  he needed to sit for 4-6 weeks before they suspended him for 4 games.  That's not much of a statement.  And I don't know what goes on behind the scenes but something tells me they could've been a little harsher with Plax and sent a message to him to get it together before the dumbass shot himself in the leg with an unregistered gun in the middle of Manhattan.  I know they did suspend him earlier this season but it obviously wasn't enough.

The NFL could also do more here.  They should've suspended him.  The facts of the case are pretty clear so what are they waiting for?  He doesn't see a judge for another four months, so they're just going to sit on their hands until then?

Well the Giants have fined and suspended him.  I mean what else can you do?  Under league rules that is really all you can do.  I think the Giants did exactly what they had to.  They put him on the Non-football injury list and suspended him 4 games.  Most people were saying yesterday that they didn't need to do that, they could've just done one or the other.  I think they did exactly what they needed to to make sure he's not a distraction for the rest of the season.  Even if he was healthy I think they would've still suspended him, I don't think it had anything to do with his injuries.  Coughlin has expressed that he'd had enough of him recently and this just gave him and management an excuse to get rid of him.

Fuck you Patriots...I need to get some Patriot toilet paper so I can wipe my ass daily with that shit-eating grin of a logo

This is the kind of juvenile speak that makes regular fans like me turn nasty--I mean whats your f-ing point?  Just jealous about how we stomped everyone last year (including Pitt)?  Not so hard to beat a team when about half of them are second or third stringers due to starter injuries?  Yeah Pitt is just great. ;D

Excuse me, Patriots stomped everyone last year? Are you still in denial of what happened in the Super Bowl? Pittsburgh fans aren't jealous of any team, we have 5 Super Bowls. We hate the Patriots because Belichick is smug, arrogant, and a cheater.

Yeah one superbowl with Ben and the rest with steroid juicing 1970s cheaters.  If the super teams of the 70s had to compete under today's rules they would never cut it.

As far as your complete bullshit cheating comment--catch up with the rest of the world.  The video rule changed at the end of 2006 and some nimrod in the NE organization didn't read the memo so they went and taped the 1st 1/4 of the 1st game of 2007.  That alleged tape was confiscated before the half which means:  NOBODY ON NE SAW THE TAPE TO USE ANYTHING FROM IT!.  JESUS I can't beleive how many simpletons need this spelled out!  The Patriots dominant 2007 season came legitimately and all the suck ass teams' fans can't get over it and if their heads had been in the SB a little more it would have been 19-0!

Oh yeah and just how do you assume to know so much about Bill Belichick?  Do you live in his head and hear his thoughts?  If you do--WOW congrats on a great life!  If you don't (more likely) then STFU!  Bill may be quiet and reserved but that doesn't make him smug and arrogant--you just think that because he smacked all his opponents around last year.

P.S.--congrats to the Giants for playing a great game that day.

Fact: Patriots were CAUGHT videotaping the Jets defensive signals
Fact: Steelers won 4 Super Bowls in the 70's. No one was caught with steroids. I'm sure that in that era there were players from all teams that may have used them.
I only know what I see and how he acts in interviews. Running off the field and not shaking hands after losing in the Super Bowl tells me a lot about his character. Don't tell me to shut the fuck up either, I'll say whatever I feel like.

Fact:  the video was a mistake made by and individual in the Pats organization who was obviously unaware of the rule change at the end of the 2006 season AND said video was never seen by any of the Pats team or staff SO THEY RECEIVED NO BENEFIT AND THEY DID NOT CHEAT ON THIS GAME!  NOR DID THEY CHEAT ON ANY OTHER ASS KICKING THEY HANDED OUT THE REST OF THE 2007 SEASON.  GET OVER OUR DOMINATION AND STOP TRYING TO DIMINISH IT WITH FALSE CLAIMS OF CHEATING.  VIDEOTAPING WAS ALLOWED THROUGH 2006 AND WAS A TOOL AVAILABLE TO ALL TEAMS--JUST BECAUSE YOUR TEAM WAS UNABLE TO CAPITALIZE ON IT ISN'T ANY REASON TO ATTACK THE PATS!

P.S.--You still don't know jack about Bill so quit trying to judge!

Not sure what rule change youre talking about, seeing as how they were investigating the Patsies videotaping the super bowl vs. the Rams and playoff games vs. Pittsburgh in the early 2000's - where they also played them earlier in the year and therefore videotaping would be helpful.

I dont think anyone cares about that Jets game last year, aside from the fact they were doing it.

And you must be at the Boston Tea Party if you think Beliprick is quiet and reserved. Maybe compared to a Cowher on the sideline he appears reserved, but hes not reserved. True pointed out good points about his gamesmanship and character when he didnt shake hands at the super bowl. I also remember hearing stories a couple years ago how he was having an affair. So that shows his off-field character right there. Running up the score multiple times last year also shows a lack of respect for the game.

Too bad Brady didnt get his leg broke in the 4th Q last year of a game he was still in when they were winning 42-6. I guess it all worked out though. Last year and this year  :)

I cant remember gloating ever about beating them. I didnt bring up any kind of stats or anything from either team.

I can remember expressing my sheer enjoyment for finally being NE for the 1st time in 4 years. Their our biggest enemy, and we beat them. It brings happiness.

Is it the same Patsies without Brady? No. But its still the Patsies and they got an extra L on their record now  :)

FYI:

Main Entry: gloat
Pronunciation: \[ch712]gl[ch333]t\
Function: intransitive verb
to observe or think about something with triumphant and often malicious satisfaction, gratification, or delight

examples of gloating:

"Fuck you Patriots...I need to get some Patriot toilet paper so I can wipe my ass daily with that shit-eating grin of a logo"

"Trust me, not only did beating the living F outta the Patsies bring joy to the hearts of Steeler nation, but it did the same thing to a team that beat them for the 1st time since Ben's rookie year, 2004"

"I was too busy watching us ramshackle New England to see what happened to NYJ this weekend"

The End

capt. scotty

Ok, but FWIW, if we only beat them by 1 Id be just as happy

Full strength or not, their maybe not our biggest rivalry (Ravens) per se, but they are bc of the games weve played against them this decade and since the Ratbirds never were better than us except when they won the SB (and I think we were bad that year anyway).

You say gloating, I say Victory!
