I met Pat Boone long ago, but it was just a hand shake at a church on Sunday morning. My son had his picture made with David Byrne at Grimeys, but I guess my claim to fame is meeting Louise Mandrell. We were meeting her at her home to discuss some renovations. She cooked dinner for us herself. A most attractive lady, very "down home" and very pleasant and a great cook. I suppose we are surprised after seeing them in the lime light that they are just regular people like you and me.Tell us about your encounters of the celebrity kind. Thanks.
Ride the music wave and wipe out really good!

I saw Bonnie Prince Billy at the Falafel House a couple weeks ago.  I saw Ashley and Naomi Judd in Church when I was in High School.  I once found and returned Bob Huggins keys to him when I worked at a golf course (no, he didn't tip me).  I saw Neil Armstrong, also when I worked at that golf course.  Also, saw Oscar Robinson there once, too.  I shook my hands with Bill Clinton when I was 11 at a rally when he was running for president in 92. I've met a lot of musicians but I won't get into those, because whenever I mentioned connections to musicians around here people take it as bragging or lying. I met the Big Red Machine including Pete Rose and Johnny Bench at a Baseball Card Convention.  I shook Pete's hand and he winked at me.  Struck up a conversation with Johnny about his HoF ring.  I met Steve Avery at a card show and talked OSU-Michigan smack with him.  That's all I can think of right now.

I've never compiled a list, but I know some celebs and have met and/or said hello to many famous people over the years; but I normally leave famous folks alone (it's kind of a Canadian thing to do). I don't know who the most famous celebrity I've rubbed shoulders with, but Neil Young, Les Paul and Buddy Guy rank up there, at least music-wise.

A couple years ago, I met Charo in the St Louis airport while I was waiting for a flight to Vegas. Her skin was like leather...

I met Jim James once. I choked big time.

My best friend's dad is a former pro wrassler
Edward James Olmos called me cute when I was little, in a non-pedo way
Friends of friends with Danny Tambarelli, who is in a band called Jounce, who has Marco Benevento on their album (he also played Little Pete on The Adventures of Pete & Pete)
De La Soul offered to play a concert in my apartment but we couldn't secure turntables
I provided "party supplies" to Method Man
Travis Morrison (from Dismemberment Plan) and Mike Doughty drank beers in my apartment
One time before a show in a parking lot in New Jersey a bunch of hippies with long hair in a band named after something like a pre-noon outergarment came off a tour bus and were taking pictures, and I asked one to call my cell phone to do a Station ID for my college radio station
I was at a Dirtbombs show in Hoboken and felt short, because I was standing next to Thurston Moore
Anyone who has responded to my posts...I appear on the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Season 4 DVD, so I'm famous...right? So count ol' Choder on the list too.
Jim Breuer used to get his sandwiches from a market near my old house where I would go on my lunch breaks as a lifeguard.
I once browsed the "S" section of Imports at Tower Records in NYC with Serena Altschul

And...my most awesomely creepy, extremely close encounter:

I gave Heath Ledger an accidental lapdance.

During an Eagles of Death Metal concert in NYC, I was in the VIP area of Irving Plaza (I had a friend who worked at Sony/Epic) minding my own business with my girlfriend, and a favorite song came on. I wanted to annoy her, so I started grinding my ass into her during "I Only Want You", except when I turned around, I did see her horrified face, except it was a few heads back. Behind me was Heath Ledger. We locked eyes for a moment, laughed, and went our separate ways.

He was very low key during the show.

This is the only one I care about. I love that show. Maybe because I'm the type of guy who can't let go of his childhood. I have the dvd's, and watch them often. I think I'd be star struck if I ever met him .  I've always wanted to start a Classic Nickelodeon thread, but just never did.  Nice to hear what he's up to!  8-)

His band is pretty good actually. I think a good description is a cross between Lemonheads, Television, and Perpetual Groove - they have a 90s feel, but jam the fcuk out.

Danny recently went on tour with Richard Lloyd from Television.

Also the show is awesome, it basically summarizes my childhood. But that could be because it was filmed sort of near where I grew up...close enough that the neighborhoods look the same.

Plus the music from that show is timeless! Where else can you see Iggy Pop, Michael Type, Debby Harry, the redhead from the B-52s, LL Cool J, and Juliana Hatfield (amonst others)?

I saw and said hi to Cindy Crawford and her family on a beach in Malibu. I didn't know who she was until we'd passed and my wife and sister started getting all crazy.

I had a brief conversation with Jimmy Johnson about the Century City Fox studios at a nearby Baja Fresh in LA.

I was groovin' next to Fred Savage at a Phish show at Shoreline.

I passed and said hi to Rob Schneider right in front of my old apartment building in San Francisco.

I saw Mike Bibby, Chris Webber and Tyra Banks on a REALLY nice boat on the Sacramento River. We offerred them some beer. They politely declined. ;D

I LIKE THIS THREAD !!!  Darryl Dawkins  AKA Chocolate Thunder. Danced with my girlfriend at a blues club called the Ringside in St Petersburg...He's one HUGE dude ;D

I have lots of Steeler autographs including players from the 70's: Franco Harris, Rocky Bleier, Mel Blount, John Stallworth, Jack Ham. I was present for all the autograph sessions, I didn't buy them on ebay or anything. I got to wear someone's Super Bowl rings when I was a kid, I forget who but I think it was Franco. I have pics somewhere.
As far as musicians go, haven't met many. When I was really into punk I met Joe Queer of The Queers at Sbarro's Pizza before a show. I met Neko Case before a New Pornographers show last year.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

If I remember correctly it was filmed somewhere in the Northeast? Aww Wellsville. A lot of cameo's in that show. Iggy Pop as a father figure, what? Every time I open something up and the package has a "inspected by" sticker, it makes me think of the Inspector 34 episode.

I was hoping that Danny's band would have some weird association with the show. Like the word, Kreb. Everything was Kreb. Kreb of Loom and Kreb Zeppelin are my favorite. I'll check his band out for sure and thanks!

CC Baxter had the lyrics to the theme song as his signature when I first joined. I said something about it to him, and he never replied back. I thought we could have had a Pete and Pete connection. I guess he was just a fan of the band Polaris. Nothing wrong with that.

I think he does his best to separate himself from the former stardom and to make a name for himself independent of the show, sort of like how Jack White does his best to not overshadow any other project he's in.

I know Jounce is playing at a Mark Mulcahey tribute show in November. He's the main guy behind Polaris.

Jeremy Piven asked me for directions in Marshall Field's once.  I'm tall, but he is teeny tiny.
