I cant start this thread without commending the Super Bowl XLIII Champion Pittsburgh Steelers  8-)

..that said, all this Cutler trade talk is really mindbending. If it wasnt for the NCAA's, Baseball starting, and maybe the NBA and NHL playoff races heating up, I think Cutler's story would have many more headlines.

Off the top of my head, he's the best QB who is 25 or younger (Matt Ryan is probably up there), yet they tried to trade him. I get it bc the guy coached for NE, but still - you have a 2009 Pro Bowl QB on your team, and you want to trade him?!?!!?

I think Cutler is taking this a bit too personal, but the Denver GM/owner or whoever is crazy if they let McDaniels dangle Cutler out there in trade talks.

Whatever happens,  Denver aint winning this battle.

Yeah, it's all kinda crazy. I saw an interesting piece on the NFL Network about it the other day. I didn't realize that McDaniels was the QB coach at NE when Cassell was there, which is why he was trying to go after him before he got traded to KC. It all kinda made sense, but you still gotta feel bad for Cutler.
On the other hand, Cutler probably understands that motive as well...

;D I'm uncertain why you're rubbing your hands together - is it as a Bills fan or a TO/Bills hater. I seriously thought he'd end up on the Raiders - I didn't want that, but it just would've made perfect sense.

Da Raiders have a Thanksgiving game this season, going down to Dallas! First Thanksgiving game for them since 1970!

I think he'd retire before signing with a team as bad as Oakland.

What Im most interested in seeing is how this affects Lee Evans stats next year.

Culter is a whiny baby.

He wouldn't last ten minutes in Philly.

At this point I think he has given up on getting a ring. His best chance was in 04 with the Birds. He's just looking for a few last paydays.

Apparently Michael Vick expects to be paid $10 mill per year by some team. If you were an NFL GM, would you pay Ron Mexico that much $$$ per year???  ;D

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Michael-Vick-thinks-Michael-Vick-is-still-worth-?urn=nfl,151410

The article ends by saying they expect him to only make around the NFL minimum. I think theyre way off there. Id say there are probably 25 teams who arent interested in him, but a handful plus who are, and Id expect him to get $2-3 mill per year for like a 2 year contract from somebody

He won't in NY either, especially not for 2 #1 picks and Revis or Harris.

I cant see NYJ giving up that much. A #1 and Revis, yes, but not two #1's and Revis (or Harris).

Denver is crazy if they are just going to give him away for less than another franchise QB, whether that comes from a swap or draft picks.

All Denver did was sign a bunch of mediocre players this offseason. That includes my all time favorite player Brian Dawkins and former Eagle RB Correll Buckhalter.

Then again, with next year being uncapped they don't have to necessarily worry about the salary implications.

Fact of the matter is, they wont know how they will have made out with this trade for a few years because im pretty sure no team will trade their franchise QB and draft pick(s) will be involved.

I actually think Dawkins is a great pickup and big loss for Philly. I think losing Buckhalter doesnt hurt them much, but I think he could be surprisingly good for Denver since every RB is typically good for them as long as they have a decent QB when all is said and done who can get the ball to Marshall and Royal.

And I almost guarantee a new bargaining agreement will be put in place and there will be a salary cap still in the NFL for the 2010 season. Theyre too successful to go down the shitty road baseball has now.

At this point they have already said it will already be an uncapped year. If the bargaining agreement does happen it won't be put in place until 2011.

On the Dawkins thing: Dawkins was a leader in the locker room. Outside of that his skill have greatly diminished. He is good if he is playing in the box in run or blitzing from the line of scrimmage. But his coverage skills have completely corroded. He is too big a liability in pass coverage. The Broncos did the Eagles front office a favor by over paying Dawk. Of course, with what our options are now, I would rather have Dawk back, but the player he is right now is not worth that kind of money to the FO.

Well thats gonna blow if its uncapped.

We better sign Silverback soon  :-/

It could be worse: you could be an Eagles fan  :'(

They have 40 million left under the cap NOW, as well as 12 draft picks, including two first round picks that Banner will probably trade away for more later round picks so he doesn't have to pay first round money.

You've seen two SB's in the past 3-4 years, and the Steelers do that without free agency for the most part.

capt. scotty

Well, they could still get Boldin. Maybe theyre planning on moving up in the 1st round and saving space for high priced draft picks.

Still, no salary cap is good for nobody but Washington an its definitely not good for football fans

I would rather them combine the 21 and 28 picks and trade up to grab an OT. However I would do A first and a third and possible a third next year for Boldin. That's me though, the Eagles surely won't.

And other teams do have the capital to compete in an uncapped free agency. The know the Eagles and Steelers both do. Other teams would bite the dust.

But look at baseball the Yanks haven't won shit in 10 years and they have had the highest payroll every year.

I think a 1st and 3r for Boldin is a steal. I think he's only like 28 or so, right?

The Eagles are built to win right now with McNabb and Westbrook. I think if they were smart and Zona would do it, a 1st and a 3rd is a very good price for Boldin

Oh yeah, and screw you guys for trading up to the pick ahead of us a couple years back and snatching Revis. I like Lawrence Timmons a lot in the long run, but with Bryant McFadden now gone, the team could use Revis a lot more then Timmons.

I still take Timmons in a heartbeat though. He just keeps getting better and better. Not sure there is a quicker LB in the NFL.
