QuoteThe cast for This Side of the Truth (Ricky's first co-written/co-directed movie - with Matthew Robinson) is ridiculously great: http://buzzsugar.com/1130316

Arrested Development (my favourite show ever) alumni!  Nigel Tuffnel!  Louis C.K.!  I can't wait.

I'm also glad to know he just finished the first draft of another film, this one with Stephen Merchant.
Holy crap! That's is going to be great.

Nice info K!  Looking forward to that.  I still think that the Extras Xmas Special might be the best 90 minutes of tv ever.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Twin peaks is good. should get more into that, only watched the first few episodes...

anyone ever watch oz? or homicide?

more importantly:

Amazing so far.

It only gets better. Check out Rome after Deadwood, or even John From Cincinnati (another Milch program that has many of the Deadwood cast in it).

Well there's two seasons and a half still to go so there's quite a lot of Deadwood to enjoy left :)

I'll keep an eye open for the ones you've suggested afterwards.

Stay away from John from Cincinnati.  You will only be dissapointed when you find out it has been cancelled after one season.  If you think Lost is confusing, you ain't seen nothin'.  And I'll never know where the hell they were going with it.   Poor me. ::)

Yep, it's confusing and it ends in 10 episodes, but there's enough interesting characters and good writing for me to recommend it, especially to Deadwood fans.

i was sad when Rome got cancelled--i loved that show

Rome wasn't a straight-up cancellation - the 10 million an episode and losing to Desperate Housewives ushered in an early ending to the show. They squeezed two seasons into one, so Season II skimmed over a decade. Squeezing timelines made for an unbelievable and exciting year and a great way to end the series. Highly, highly recommended.

John From Cincinnati polarizes people, that's for sure. It's an interesing series, but frustrating and challenging too.

BH

One's thing for sure, jaimoe, the dialogue in Deadwood and J from C was unmatched!  Just brilliant.  Do you know if David Milch is working on anything coming up in the future?

As far as I can tell, Milch isn't doing anything right now. I hope that means he's doing those Deadwood movies that were promised.

Anyone seen The Street? I'm a big fan of Jimmy McGovern (Cracker, The Lakes etc) & Timothy Spall (Mike Leigh films, Harry Potter etc) so bought this blind on DVD.
Brilliant, brilliant television. The 1st series is 6 1hr episodes each about a person or family that lives in Bond Street & each of the stories are slightly connected in some way. Every episode so far has had me in tears & it's one of those show that you want to cherish but I've only got one episode left (series2 just got released in the UK!)

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

hmmmm. Never heard of that one DB. I have to see if netflix has it. I miss having BBC America. I lost it when we downgraded our cable service. I'll have to add it to my list that already has M1-5 and Little Britain on it and have a nice BBC run.

a buddy just turned me onto a great Canadian drama called "Intelligence."  It's in the same vein as "The Wire," which you have to see if you haven't already.  It's a great show, Im halfway through the first season now.

Did anybody watch the last aired episode of My Name Is Earl the other night?  It was noteworthy that Beau Bridges was the guest star as Earl's dad and at one point, I think it was Earl who, in passing, said to Beau "dude, ....".  And Beau looked at him and said "Don't call me Dude."
