I always loved this promo for season 5 of Rescue Me:

rescue me season 5 promo

But I've been getting choked up at the new promo for the final season:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=zIyrvuc7VBA#at=13

I'm so going to miss this show--its up there with The Sopranos, The Shield , and 24 as one of my all time favorites :(

my friend is playing bass with the band/dude who wrote the rescue me theme song.  they're called something else now tho.  they played SXSW this year or going to whenever it was/is.  I should download this shit, you make it sound tasty.

Wow,
you know the bassist from the Von Bondies?  That's pretty cool.  I get the vibe that Denis Leary really digs them.
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

not quite, I know the fill in bassist for the Von Bondies. haha. the singer told my friend they were wanting to kick their bass player out for awhile so he's filling in.  the band he's in isn't Von Bondies tho.  not real sure, we only talked causally about it for a minute.  thought it was pretty cool.  he's a great bass player for sure.

Michael Scott's Last Episode tonight on the office.  It'll be interesting to see what the show is like without him, it's hard to imagine it without him.  NPR said there are huge guest stars on tonight, Will Ferrell, Will Arnet, Jim Carrey, etc

Just finished season 2 of Dexter, can't believe some people say to skip this season! If i had to choose witch season I liked better it was definitely 1, 1 had so many great twists and I never knew what to expect next. Season 2 was good though, you learn more about his past and that's important for the development of the story.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Loved 1 and 2! Getting through 3 a little slower, and can't wait for 4 and 5!

Just curious if any of my cousins to the south are fans of, or have ever watched, Trailer Park Boys? It's fucking funny; when it came out in Canada, it quickly became an iconic show on par with SCTV and Kids in the Hall.

Can't watch tonight.  Might have to wait until Friday late night, so don't forget spoiler alerts, please.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Justified = Great season, great finale

Lot of loose ends which will most likely revisited in season 3

One thing I thought which was left out was Wynona's reaction to Gary's betrayal from 2 episodes ago...or did I miss it?

totally agree. the apple pie was a little predictable but I liked the rest of it.

started watching the x-files from the beginning.  only ever saw the first season and I was little.  when they focus on the alien storyline is really fucking solid but there is so many filler episodes sometimes its hard to stay awake.  season two was awesome and season two->season three is seriously solid right now.  I'm already set to be disappointed since people say chris carter drug it out too long.  but to be honest, I need something brainless to watch like this.  it serves it's purpose quite nicely.

I watched X-Files from its beginning (when FOX only had two series of importance: X-Files and The Simpsons) to the final episode. It's a really good show through Season 5. I wouldn't never classify the show as "brainless" though. I love the paranoia and mistrust of government and other dark themes such as alien cover-ups and unexplained phenomenom (it reflected US society on some levels at the time); the acting is pretty solid throughout too. It's kind of a Lost in those regards.

The show went slowly downhill when they moved production from British Columbia to Hollywood at the start of Season 6; much of the Canadian crew didn't migrate to LA. The rain and thick forest and Coastal Rockies made for a gloomy but awesome backdrop to some serious fucked up storylines. Supernatural is shot in BC and is an heir apparent to X-Files (it uses some of the same crew, writers such as the late great Kim Manners and Mitch Pileggi "Skinner" from X-Files), moreso than Fringe, although both are excellent.

You may find yourself considering bailing in Season 6 or 7, but I think its worth it to stick it out until the end. One thing that I never liked was what I like to call the "Abbott & Costello moster in the room". You know how this goes: Lou is the only one that sees Frankenstein or the Wolf Man. For nearly 9 years, Mulder sees the aliens and mosters, but Scully always seems to be out of the room or looking the other way. The worst example of this is in the X-Files feature film. A fucking flying saucer rises up though an icy lake and Scully is looking the other way. WTF?!!

Big X-File fan here and even have to agree with Jamoie for the most part about it going downhill a bit around season 6. As far as the "filler" episodes (standalones), those are actually among my favorite episodes. I stopped watching the show when it was on the air once Duchovny quit the show, since then I've seen all the episodes on DVD. Once I finally gave the last two seasons a chance I thought that 8 was pretty decent, and thought the last season suffered by them having to write Mulder back in.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

A little lazy to back paddle through older posts so my thoughts:

The Killing - arguably the best show on television
Justified - argues with the The Killing over who is better

South Park - new season is amazing
Workaholics - surprisingly hilarious.  big fan of this show

Anyone into any of these?

capt. scotty

Loving The Killing. Missing my DVR and not being able to stock up on episodes and watch a few back to back. I cant stand waiting week after week. Even worse that AMC never repeats episodes throughout the week (I dont see why not, it would help build the audience), so its not like I can even watch last weeks on a Saturday or something and then watch the new one the next day.

Entertainment-wise Id say Justified is better, but storyline, dialogue, cinematography are all better on The Killing. Really, anything Ive seen on AMC is the same in those regards, and Im a big fan of pretty much any show FX has ever aired.
The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care. - Peter Gibbons

AMC repeats throughout the week - you just have seek around...definitely have seen repeats on week nights

I'm really liking The Killing, too.  If you have xbox you can stream all of the episodes through there.
