I think I'm going to just start beating my head against the desk.

One of the guitar players in my band seems to think that our singer kicked him out, however, the singer has no recollection of this ever happening.  Basically he didn't show up for practice several times, didn't learn the new songs, and is now claiming to have been given the boot.

Normally, yeah, it would make sense that he was kicked out.  However, we're in a different situation.  In the remainder of this band's existence, there are 3 shows plus our annual New Years Eve alcohol enhanced performance (where Eyes Unclouded becomes Eyes Intoxicated!).  Come January 1st, the band will cease being the inactive clusterfuck that its always been and myself and the singer will live 500 miles away.

And because I don't think I've ever posted it here:

I don't really care if anyone reads this, I just feel a little better having gotten it off my chest.

It's 7:20 PM, and I'm already several pints in. It was a rough day. Not a good sign.

i feel like this Auto Bailout is a HUGE MISTAKE:

they should let these companies declare bankruptcy--i was for the original bailouts and buying up the bad debt but this is bad in the long run

I couldn't agree with you more. Let's just keep giving money to companies who have bad leadership.
"Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"

tomEisenbraun

Not so much bad leadership as much as the union sucking them dry. If they could file for bankruptcy, they'd be allowed to renegotiate union dues and hourly wage. Granted, I'm sure no one wants to see their pay come down from $75/hr, but seriously, that's around $150k a year for working in an auto-shop. I'm not going to make judgments on what is and isn't fair, because I'm in no boat to vote for lowering anyone's wages, but the union as a whole needs to pay attention to the resources of the company its people work for and also take into account the needs of its workers. That money could be spread a little more effectively through the company to keep it from sinking. If the bail-out goes through for these guys, it'll basically just give them more time to work with before filing chapter 11.

My dad works for Chrysler and sent a series of email about the 5000 upper level employees they're having to off because of the situation. He's not taking a severance package because he is ONE YEAR SHORT of getting any benefit from the packages they've offered, and so we're not entirely sure he'll have his job come January 1. We're relatively sure that he'll be okay, but it's still a little sweaty when there's not a 100% in front of that "sure".

Seriously though, it'd be nice to see these guys have the opportunity to file for bankruptcy, get their union shit straightened out and have another go at it.

It'd be nice if they had a chance to go FedEx with it, but I think the entire UAW would try to flip upside down over that one.

Uncle sam took a chuck out of my ass big time!

First the state government, who promised to pay off my wife's graduate loans if she worked three years in a special needs classroom, reneged on their part of the promise despite the fact that she now has five years in.  That leaves us with thousands of dollars of debt that shouldn't be ours.  Can we break our promise to repay? No. So how can the state of Kentucky get away with that!?!

Then we get a letter from the IRS saying our income taxes were improperly filed (by H&R Bock, btw) due to these very same loans.  So now we have to go through an "examination process" with the IRS and we'll likely owe well over a thousand dollars, which on a teacher's salary isn't just a drop in the bucket.

Damn, dude. That thoroughly blows. Sounds like it's time to "go off the grid".

Very sorry to hear that aMD. Man, that really f**king sucks!
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Also on the bummer list, though not because the government's an asshole: I'll be spending Christmas alone.

What do you even do with Christmas day all to yourself in a town where all your friends have gone home for the holidays? Spike your own eggnog? Wrap empty boxes for under the Christmas Tree to make it look like you've got something good? Eat Santa's milk and cookies by yourself?

I'm trying to figure something out just so it doesn't have to be the most depressing holiday in the world to spend alone. Damn Borders is suckin' my travel abilities away, though.
