I went to my hometown to visit my Mom and some old friends over the weekend. Saturday night ended in all of us sitting around our local towney dive bar drinking beers and singing along to Willie, Waylon, Hank, Merle, Johnny and all the other "good ole boy" classics. Now, I'm not a huge fan of my hometown, but at that moment I thought "God this shit warms my soul!" And I was perfectly happy and content to be exactly where I was at that moment in time.  [smiley=beer.gif]

Another reason to crash at my place mate. 5 small town bars with very close walking distance to the house. Several gladly play "good ole boy" classics. As the regulars there ARE "good old boy" classics.

i started a new diet in order to put an end to my, if you will,  "rampant fatassery." it's pretty tough, but i am hoping that i can be successful.

do you all have any dieting tips/advice you'd like to share?

don't take a day off.  One day leads to two- two to more and more... then you are making excuses and struggling to get back on track.

these are things that have helped me, i have no idea if they'd be good for you or not ---but quit the diet sodas (i have yet to conquer this but i'm getting better) drink a ton of water, set small goals-not big ones, alcohol is HUGE--try to cut in half whatever you're drinking, switch whatever mixer to club soda, shop on the outside aisles, don't buy junk because if it's in the house, it's getting eaten (lol), try to find something you maybe used to fit into and keep it close, measure yourself by that and stay away from scales, they'll only frustrate you, instead of dinner, make protein shakes a few nights a week...find some exercise that works for you, even if it's power walking or cleaning the house or doing wi fit or wi hula hooping. also i find that finding some way to hold yourself accountable helps (find a friend to do it with, or boyfriend cough cough!, or make a chart and put it on your fridge) that kind of thing. sorry probably too much info....

When I lost all my weight 9 years ago, I cut out all soda. To this day, the only time I do have any is if there is booze in it. And that usually happens on TDay and Xmas. I also cut my portion sizes down. I didn't really cut many things out completly other then fried foods and really sugary foods. You can still enjoy those, just in moderation and as a treat more then the norm. Eat leaner protein and whole grain carb sources. Lots of veg, especially greens like Spinach and Kale.

For exercise, I did elliptical. Lots of elliptical. Then I switched to running but by then I was down to 170 for 250ish.

I have a pretty decent collection of colored aluminum from the 50's, but if I was ever able to afford to seriously collect something else it would probably be Jadeite...
