QuoteI'm to the point I think they should just let the guys take them.  It's only cheating if it's against the rules.

BH, you're delusional if you think Pooholes is completely clean.  People don't get that ripped naturally.  Name one person in any sport who has biceps that ripped and isn't on the juice.

The Ortez thing drives me crazy. All the analysts are like "He's lost his bat speed and power all of a sudden, I don't know WHAT it could be!"

Agreed on all points here.

With the money these guys make, you're telling me their isn't a lab in China where some MLB money is funneled to continue staying ahead of the MLB testing curve.  It costs an enormous amount of resources to not only test but to stay on top of newer and newer synthetics that are not detectable or are not on the list of banned substances.

Big Papi is hilarious and the announcers are a joke.  Everyone knows why but can't say it. ;D

Another cheater down. I really HOPE Albert Pujols gets caught next.

"It was that way when he was 18 and he played high school baseball in Independence, Mo., Harry Truman's hometown. Opposing coaches walked Pujols 55 of the 88 times he came to the plate that year. They walked him out of respect, of course, but they also walked him in protest. They did not believe their pitchers should have to throw to a grown man. Albert hit eight homers in the 33 at bats he was given; one of those crashed off a second-story air conditioner some 450 feet from home plate. That did not dissuade anyone from believing Pujols was older than 18."

"He went to Maple Woods Community College in Kansas City, Mo., and in his first game he homered and made an unassisted triple play at shortstop, then his regular position. After a breathtaking 1999 season there (.461 with 22 homers), he did not get drafted until the 13th round by the St. Louis Cardinals that June."

Sounds like he was hitting bombs right out of the womb.  Maybe his Mom put steroids in his formula bottle.

Almost identical to righty Jimmie Fox, who probably wasn't on steriods since he played in the 30s and 40s.  Why could it not be possible for someone to do it again?

He's taking some freshly squeezed

AVG number of HRs in steroids era (including his rookie year): 41.6
AVG number after testing was introduced: 35.5

It's not a glaring difference like big papi, but it's also not too easy to explain away.  He hit the most HRs in his career 49 the last year without testing.  The first year with testing he hit a career low 32.  Am I to believe that he hit his prime as a 26 year old and the advent of testing in the same year is just a coincidence?  Most people hit more HRs as a 27 old year old defending MVP then as a 19 year old rookie.  I listen to Jeff Brantley almost everyday, and that comment is just another example of media types who have stuck their head in the sand and learned to talk out their asses.

2007 is the only year on that entire list that you can say was any different.  He still had a 653 slugging in 2008.   And in 2007 it is widely known that Pujols had a elbow injury that he played with thru the entire season. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080216&content_id=2376083&vkey=spt2008news&fext=.jsp&c_id=stl

Right now he's on pace for 63 home runs so I expect him to finish right around the 40 HR mark like he has every other year of his career except for 2007.

Fair enough. I'd like to believe he's clean, I just can't.  I used to think Bonds was clean despite all the circumstantial evidence, too.  Anyway, I hope we don't find out for sure this season, I have him in my two favorite fantasy leagues.

He did miss 14 games last year though. I would think he wouldve had over 40 HR's if not for that.

Because it isn't.  Do we have to go over why Jimmie Fox didn't face the pitching that is on the mound these days.  Ohhh, I don't know, Negro Leagues, Latin Americans, Asians, population growth.... ::)

See, all that's in the Sports Illustrated article. I read it, and believed him. Now, I think I got fooled. Today, no one EVER can say that they're 100% sure anyone's clean. I've never understood why the records before integration are even kept. Come on, that's a flat out joke.
