That sounds delicious!

Only Leffe Blonde tonight. Pretty wasted at the moment...
I'm beginning to get more interested in American beers, because of all the talk on this forum. All those special beers are not being imported, so we only have Budweiser and that kind of stuff over here. And budweiser tastes likes piss. Not that I've ever drank piss, but I can imagine that it would taste like budweiser... :-?
I'm not trying to be mysterious about it, it's just that what I do is tough to explain.

An ex of mine who liked golden showers told me Bud tasted worse

Franklin's Tower would be SO sweet! They have done it before, and it is one of my all time favorites.

As I learned last night, Acoustic Chorale is about one Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout long.   :)

QuoteSwitched to Bell's Two Hearted Ale and it is working just fine...

I took a 6 of Two Hearted to a friends last Saturday night.  He tasted it and made that "eeeew, it's bitter" face.  I had 2 and felt pretty good about leaving the other 4 behind.  Sunday night, I head to the fridge and find only a case of Corona light.  Light.  "Where's the Two Hearted?"  He actually drank them -- all of them.  While I was disappointed, this is a small growth in his beer sensibility.   :)

Other beers in recent rotation are the Left Hand Milk Stout (saw tower mentioned another Left Hand brew above) and last fall I was really digging the Great Lakes Nosferatu.  Mmm...

The DC City Paper has a new feature called "The Beer Spotter".  And this weeks beer is the Lancaster Milk Stout (on tap at Looking Glass Lounge).

"Cream of passion : Milk stouts are are made with lactose, which, unlike the sugars usually used to make beer, is unfermentable by beer yeast; since it doesn't turn into alcohol, it adds sweetness and a creamy texture to the beer. The sweetness is mild in Lancaster's offering, tempered by a dry-roasted maltiness, but the lactose makes itself known, coating your mouth with the flavors. Sweet stout lovers, you can stop pouring half-and-half into your Guinness."

I don't think I've ever had a milk stout, so I may just have to go on a beer outing today.  Lancaster fans in the area can find thier brews at the Looking Glass for the next couple of weeks exclusively.

Hmmm, I think I may just have to go to the Whole Foods to corrupt the beer guy's day.   ;)

Sunny

Hmm. Memorable beers I've had lately are:

Founders Breakfast Chocolate Stout
Weyerbacher Quad
Southern Tier's Phin & Matt
Miller High Life  8-)

Yes, this is legit. Apparently the family had a brewer back in the day. I believe now it's all part of the Erie Brewing Company. I think they make some brews under the Koehler name still. I remember my bro having a ton of the old cone top cans. I really want to try some.

erdinger (or any weissbier really) hmmm

this thread is making me want to go to the pub... not that i need much of an excuse, as it's about a million degrees outside.... :)
love a song for the way it makes you feel

Nice!!

Being from PA, im familiar with Erie Brewing but have never seen a Koehler brew.

The Erie Railbender is a pretty good 7.5% alc for a little over 20$ a case though  :D

I gotta see if I can order Koehler beer, you know for familar honor. I did find a bunch of awesome logoed merch however with a lot been from the 40-60's. I have to somehow convince the Mrs that it is ok to spend money on this stuff just cuz it has the family name on it.

Was looking for a good stout yesterday and came home with this.  Awfully tasty and not at all heavy.   :)  The alcohol is a wee bit high, but you'd never know it (until you got up off the bar stool).

ABOUT
With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart.

COMPOSITION
Malts:  Imported 2 row
Hops: American whole flowers
Alcohol by Volume: 9.1%

Had it, its good.

The only bad Victory Ive ever had is Golden Monkey and their Lager...Everything else Ive tried - which is at least a dozen of their beers - is very good or better

Beer, the nectar of the gods and goddesses!  Some recent favorites of mine include:

Left Hand Sawtooth Ale:  Longmont, CO
Blue Heron Pale Ale: NY
Any of the Dogfish Heads: Milton, Delaware
Bell's Two Hearted and Pale Ale:  Kalamazoo, MI
Stone IPA and Ruination: San Diego??
My Homebrew  :): Athens, OH

I only skimmed through the first 10 pages of this thread, but I don't recall seeing anyone pimp the Bluegrass Brewing Co. in Louisville.  I have only tried the American Pale Ale, but it was rather tasty too.  Anybody else?

Funny you should mention Dogfish, wharf rat (love your name, btw!).  I've never tried any of the Dogfish brews before, but got tickets like, literally minutes ago for a beer and chocolate pairing featuring the Dogfish brews.  Here's the menu:

60 Minute India Pale Ale

Midas Touch Golden Elixir paired with fig-ginger chutney, puff pastry, chocolate dukka

Red & White paired with butter lettuce, golden & candy striped beet salad with goat cheese and chocolate-orange vinaigrette

Indian Brown Ale paired with toasted chocolate pan d'spice, Pumpkin Ale butternut squash puree, bacon

120 Minute IPA paired with braised beef brisket, red onion, cilantro, orange, coriander, cocoa nibs

Palo Santo Marron (Holy Tree Brown) paired with chile ice cream with chocolate shavings
