i'm not a movie watcher. BUT i did rent the movie Strangers with Candy. all i have to say is WOW!! that sucked! i own the complete series, and love it. love it. but all the movie was, was a bunch of rehashed jokes and skits from the tv show that were funnier then.

i remember jaimoe getting ragged on for not liking the movie. you were right!!

I got ragged good. The movie is dreadful. I still haven't watched the series, but I know it's supposed to be good.

Monsoon Wedding, Bourne Ultimatum, Simpsons Movie, Harry Potter 5, Blades Of Glory & Meet The Robinsons.
Very good, excellent, hilarious, OK, crap & very disappointing respectively.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

brad and i finally saw the simpsons movie. this huge storm came into town and caused us to miss the last 4/5 minutes of the film. it kind of pissed me off, but whatever. i still got to hear maggie talk.

did anyone else notice that joel coen was a writer for the film? i was looking pretty hard in the credits to see if they had gotten bill odenkirk back in the mix and ended up seeing joel's name instead. pleasant surprise.

Yeah I noticed that. I was so surprised I couldn't help but wonder if it wasn't another Joel Cohen.
If you saw Maggie talk then I don't think you missed much after that.

Ralph at the start of the movie was absolutely hilarious!  ;D

Hands down, the funniest movie I've seen all year.  I pissed myself laughing numerous times.  Great to see some Arrested Development (and Freaks and Geeks!) alumni starting to catch absolute fire.

I don't want to spoil anything but the scene with Jonah Hill's character and his dance partner.  Oh my...   ;D

Probably my most anticipated movie of the year: http://youtube.com/watch?v=T8raqLzb3rQ

Oh Julie Delpy, how I love thee.

hot fuzz

i haven't laughed so much for AGES

(interesting selection of keywords for this movie on the imdb site - blood splatter / male bonding / axe murder (actually its gardening shears....eeeew) / person in car trunk / no opening credits

if you get the chance SEE THIS MOVIE
love a song for the way it makes you feel

I love Simon Pegg, but I thought Hot Fuzz was only pretty good. It got better as it went along, but the pacing was really slow for the first half. I also didn't have any belly laughs. I don't like comparing two films spoofing two different genres, but Pegg's Shaun of the Dead is a far funnier and lasting film.

Chills

Closer

Pretty good actually. Some clever dialogue.
Clive Owen was great as usual and you just gotta love Nathalie Portman.

After that one some random Steven Seagal movie on TV.
Utter crap. Sub-par dialogue.
But it had Seagal, the quintessential (I love that word) b-list action-hero, out there to save nature, practice ridiculous zen philosophy and kicking ass in the meanwhile.

Good times  ;D

'When We Were Kings'

Amazing doc about the 'The Rumble in the Jungle' Ali vs Foreman from 1974

Highly recommend it

I loved that movie & want to see it again (my sister has my copy in the UK)

Two Alan Clarke movies from the 80's Made In Britain & The Firm.
I'm sure they made quite an impact at the time but both seem rather dated now.

My wife is "watching" Beaches on the Oxygen channel. She's doing it intentionally as she knows this is one of my most hated movies of all time. So I'm throwing Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead in on DVD. Long live Gary Oldman.

ali

rosencrantz & guildenstern is the BEST movie!!! i've watched it SO many times... you just can't go past a movie with tim roth AND gary oldman!

Guildenstern: I think I have it. A man talking sense to himself is no madder than a man talking nonsense not to himself.
Rosencrantz: Or just as mad.
Guildenstern: Or just as mad.
Rosencrantz: And he does both.
Guildenstern: So there you are.
Rosencrantz: Stark raving sane.

Rosencrantz: I don't believe in it anyway.
Guildenstern: What?
Rosencrantz: England.
Guildenstern: Just a conspiracy of cartographers, then?

hehe loveit!
