What did you think of Nightwatch Ali?

The Shining - not only had my wife not seen this she hadn't even seen the 'here's Johnny!' clip & knew nothing of it, what a loser!  ;)

I love these: http://www.angryalien.com/0504/shiningbunnies.html
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Watched about 45 mins of Silent Hill last night, man what a steaming pile of crap that was!!!

Have you played the games? I'm a big fan of the games and really enjoyed watching the movie. Maybe you would think in a different way if you played the games. The music is excellent.
Haven't played the game but I've heard great things about it.
I guess the movie kind of played out like a game - here comes a monster, here comes another, this one's a bit bigger & a bit harder to beat.
I just found the whole thing absurd. The mother was wandering around calmly, telling the police officer 'everything will be alright' when her daughter was alone, missing in a town full of monsters/zombies/f**ked-up people! I know it was a horror movie & horror movies are often far-fetched but it was just too much.

Really? I think it was like Silent Hill 2 (game) and had only only a few monsters compared to the other "zombie"games/movies. But if you think that the movie is bad you musn't watch the Resident Evil movies!
Btw. has anyone of you seen 1408? It´s going to be released in Sept. here. I saw the trailer in the cinema and thought it looked great!

ManNamedTruth

The Simpsons. It was alright. Earlier that day I watched The Jerk on comedy central, i enjoyed it quite a bit.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

QuoteZatoichi. A story about a blind samurai. I liked the movie. The movie included cool fight scenes and had lots of hilarious moments.

I believe you saw the latest incarnation of The Blind Swordsman, by maverick Japanese director/actor 'Beat' Takeshi Kitano, a huge influence of Quentin Tarantino amonst others. Beat is one of my favourite directors and actors and is one of the most influential directors in Japanese cinema. Check out Kitano's gangster (Yakuza) movies: Violent Cop, Hana-Bi (Fireworks - a beautiful film too), Boiling Point, Sonatine, Gonin and his US gangster film Brother, with Omar Epps.

Another film Kitano starred in was the hugely influential anti-highschool, social satire and fucking crazy and violent survival of the fittest picture: Battle Royale... another giant influence of Tarantino. He even hired the actress that played Go Go in the first Kill Bill after he saw her fight scene in Battle Royale.

Here's some reviews and ratings from Rotten Tomatoes of his films: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/p/takeshi_kitano/about.php
wow, Thanks! I'll check out his other movies!
Yeah I saw this one: http://www.amazon.com/Zatoichi-Sonatine-Double-Tadanobu-Asano/dp/B0002W4TOO/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/102-0118925-4478500?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1185453784&sr=8-2

But there were some weird scenes in the movie e.g. people working on the field using their tools in a certain rhythm accompanied by strange music. Same with people who were building up a house and the final dance. But overall it was a very good movie.

Weird scenes? Indeed there was. Get used to that with some Japanese films including ones directed by Takeshi Kitano. Even the great Akira Kurosawa had weird, crazy scenes in some of his greatest movies like Rashomon, The Hidden Forest (which inspired Star Wars) and Throne of Blood. Beat Takeshi is a strange dude - he's the host of that Japanese obstacle course-type gameshow that is spoofed with dubbed English-parody dialogue on Spike TV. His film Sonatine has a odd, slow pace to it too and is not a straight-up gangster flick in the conventional sense. You might not get it. Think of Kitano's gangster films as modern day samurai adaptations, where violence comes fast and the fighting ends quickly followed by long gaps of quiet. After all, samurai fights would never last long in real life. How could you beat a samurai?

Do you mean Takeshi's Castle? We had that show in Germany, too.

Last night I went with my brother to the cinema and we watched Death Proof. Death Proof kicks ass. Kurt Russel was a great choice. Another masterpiece. 2 hours of action and fun.

That's the show! It's shown in North America with English actors dubbing the dialogue in English and basically make everything up. It's pretty funny and more than likely, far funnier than the stupid show in its original Japanese form.

The Simpsons Movie - Absolutely loved it.  Every minute.  I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time, brought back so many wonderful memories of watching the TV show 2 or 3 times a day.

A few highlights - The Fox crawl along the bottom of the screen, Bart full-frontal, GABBO and Maggie's first word.

Ratatouille - Pixar strikes absolute gold once again.  Probably the best looking film they've made, and as per usual it was hilarious and heart-warming.  Amazing voice casting; WILL ARNETT, Patton Oswalt, Peter O'Toole.  Incredible.

Jaimoe

Seraphim Falls - a really good revenge western from last year starring Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson.

Kung Fu Hustle - I liked it, but didn't love it. I prefer Stephen Chow's previous film Shaolin Soccer.

IHL

'Sherrybaby' with Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Gritty.

Not a patch on 'Half Nelson'

Zodiac, that was good.  Yeah Sherrybaby left little to be desired.

Napoleon Dynamite on TV last night.  I'd never seen it before.  Parts of it made me snort  wine out of my nose.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

It doesn't have a title yet TK. It's the new J.J.Abrams movie sometimes referred to as Cloverfield, sometimes by it's release date 01 18 08. Aparently a monster attacks your neck of the woods  :o

Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman - very good movie about England's most prolific hangman. Excellent performance from Timothy Spall (Secrets & Lies etc)

I love crazy and over-the-top, but it got a little too much at times. Still, I love the place where Stephen Chow's mind resides.
