Just watched Quadrophenia for the umpteenth time.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Ghengis Blues--Paul Pena demostrates his throatsinging skills in the tiny country of Tuva, in Southern Siberia.  What a beautiful cultural exchange story!  He even enters a local contests and wins crowd favorite.  I loved evey minute of this one

Zodiac--great cast and great story.
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

I have the deluxe remastered DVD that came out a couple of years ago. Here's a pisser: It isn't enhanced. Sure it's widescreen, but it won't fit an HDTV. It stretches no matter the setting.

Grindhouse. OK, it's on the list!  :)
Inland Empire's bonus disk has a great little short of how David Lynch cooks Quinoa.

Looking 4ward to P.T. Anderson's next one.  None of the regulars including Jon Brion seem to be involved. Johnny Greenwood scored it. trailer:

I watched the Johnny Cash show DVDs last night!  There are some AMAZING performances.  highly recommended.  I wish you've just kept the show's complete and added a few more discs or another volume, but it's was great to see what they finally released.

Broken Trail - whilst not quite as good as Lonesome Dove or Open Range (Robert Duvall referred to these as a trilogy of sorts) i throughly enjoyed this beautifully shot western. Robert can do no wrong in these kinds of movies.

I can never tire of Almost Famous (well, 'Untitled').  I'm watching it with Cameron Crowe's incredible commentary and drinking a few cold ones.  Doesn't get much better...

GrassyOne

Just watched The Number 23 with Jim Carrey. I'm undecided on this one. Decent premise, but a little odd too. I'm a fan of numerology, and it was cool to see it featured in a flick, but not sure if I REALLY liked the movie. Carrey was great and so was Virginia Madsen.

Thoughts, anyone?

The Festival Express dvd. It's a shame a bunch of ignorrant protesters ruined the festival to some degree. Yeah musicians should play for free and not make any money, idiots.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Yes, but that scene and event was the only drama in the film and thus made it far more important as rock & roll document. Plus, it was great seeing Bob Weir actually getting pissed off at something and his rants were thoughtful, honest and surprisingly coherent.

To think that the footage lay in the director's basement for thirty years. At one point, the film tins were used as goal posts when his son played road hockey.

I went to the premiere of Festival Express at the Toronto International Film Festival three or four years ago. It was a great night. Syliva Tyson, members of Janice Joplin's band, famed Canadian director David Cronenberg (Eastern Promises, A History of Violence, The Fly, Scanners) and Festival Express director Bob Smeaton were all in attendance and Bob answered questions after the screening. When the film was being played, some people in the audience got up and danced. People cheered after the performances too, so this screening kinda felt like being there.
