Mr. T.

Walk The Line.

Great film. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Whiterspoon are amazing. They drew me right into it.  8)

Seen from the side Mr. Phoenix looked very much like Johnny Cash. And his voice, damn his voice...

When I came home I put up the Folsom Prison Concert:

"Hello, I'm Johnny Cash..."

Goosebumps
We are young despite the years,
we are concern,
we are hope despite the times

Still not sure if I like Jack Black or not but this trailer is fucking hilarious!

Do you remember when everyone was shouting my name?
And I used my strengh to rip my blouse?  ;D
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

"Wolf Creek" Australian based slasher movie, nothing we haven't seen before unfortunately

"South of Heaven , West of Hell" Written, directed by and starring Dwight Yoakim, with Vince Vaughn, Peter Fonda, Bridget Fonda, Pee Wee and Billy Bob Thornton, very slow moving Western but with some great scenes and dialogue. Spoiled by cheesiness at times but  worth watching if you like westerns. Great scene where Bridget Fonda castrates a bad guy with a lit oil lamp.

Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance. Great film!

The Big Lebowski (simply had to be watched again this week!) & Wedding Crashers.
Wedding Crashers was OK. It started out funny but ended up as your pretty standard rom/com. Still worth watching for the ever excellent Vince Vaughn & a very funny cameo from Wil Ferrell.

Johnny Cash: The Man, His World, His Music

Aside from the fact that it was very tame, it was great to see all the old footage of him.  On his bus, talkin' about where he grew up, footage of going back home, footage from San Quentin, lots of June, there's even a shot with the family and you can see Roseanne as a young teen.

The image/sound quality hasn't changed much from their original stock, so sometimes it's hard to see/hear, but I actually kind of like that.

I just  recently saw this for the first time. It was on one the cable channels. It was a lot of fun to watch and very heartwarming.  I loved it when they went back to the old  Cash home in Arkansas where Johnny's family grew up and met some of their old friends and relatives.  Very cool documentary.

:)  I was surprised by what a high speaking voice June had.  I guess I'd never heard her speak before.

Thai horror The Eye, Brit horror The Descent & the always excellent Donnie Darko.

We watched Shawshank last night because my wife hadn't seen it - what an excellent movie!
I saw it years ago when it first came out so knew the story but it still really moved me.
Granted, it is served with a spoonful of sugar, but the movie is so well done & the characters are so likeable in the end it tastes more like your favourite Ben&Jerry's.
There's a good reason this movie just topped Empire Magazine's 'best movie of all time' poll & has sat at number one on imdb's 'top 250' list for a while.

The newly restored director's cut of The Wild Bunch. Fantastic western.

I also finally caught Joss Weadon's Serenity, the continuation of his failed sci-fi TV series Firefly. The series was excellent and the film is good too.

Saw 'Constant Gardener' last night.  I didn't know anything about it, and I was so surprised and impressed.  It's got everything - beautifully shot, suspenseful, socially conscious...

I just wonder why I hadn't heard anything about it.  Is it even up for any Oscars? (not that those mean anything, but it deserves to be nominated for best picture.)

Rachel Weisz is up for one. I think it was up for a few BAFTAs but only won best editing.
I haven't seen it yet but it's in my pile of unwatched DVDs. Check out City Of God by the same director, very good movie.

I saw Walk The Line yesterday (congrats to Reese for getting a well deserved BAFTA) & You, Me & Everyone We Know.

Match Point.

Absolutely loved it.  I didn't think I would.  I think it's the best Woody Allen film I've seen since Bullets Over Broadway.  I even liked Mr. Reese-Meyers.  I swear I did.

I watched Hud last night. Paul Newman's Hud character was a bastard. Patricia Neal was really sexy. A great modern day western.

Spinout. My Dad & Nancy Sinatra together on screen - how can that not be a good movie?  ;)
It wasn't...it was shit! But I still loved it & today I ordered Kid Galahad (actually one of my Dad's better movies) Fun In Acapulco, Follow That Dream & Blue Hawaii from amazon.
Like Mudhoney said - Touch Me I'm Sick!

Shaun Of The Dead. Brit humour at it's blackest & best!
"Buy Milk. Ring Mum. Avoid Zombies" One of the best movie taglines ever  ;D
