Love that movie. It's brilliantly done in every way imaginable. One of the most perfect films I've ever seen.

QuoteAvatar - I'm no James Cameron fan (give me Alien over Aliens any day of the week) but I have to admit that he just took cinema to the next level...see it in 3D & have your mind blown!

Really hoping to see it this weekend.  Now to get some good fungus beforehand

I don't think I could go to the movies on mushrooms, I'd probably get restless. I'm with AMC on this one.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

The lurching refrigerator is haunting--that and Leto's necrotic arm :P
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

Sounds great!   :D
The snow put a damper on that plan but oh well.  Perhaps in the next few weeks when the theaters are less packed.

love post apocolyptic stories....and it had Gary Oldman. Excellent.

Just saw a preview of this this morning.....looks pretty effing sweet. Since Denzel has only had like 4 bad movies his entire career, this 1 is cant miss.

...Im def trying to check out Avatar this week or next as well. If anything, it'll be entertaining but good to see a positive review. I think Id go apeshit if I watched that on shrooms though  ;D

Funny People... concept was good, the loneliness of stardom, and them using both comedy and drama was a good concept. However, they never got very dramatic nor very funny and so everything just felt lifeless and grey. 3.5/10

I expected Funny People to have less drama, but I liked it a good bit. Only 3.5? Id say all the one liners alone make it start at a 5

One liners? The movie was a bunch of penis jokes one after another.  Actually the scenes I really only "liked" were the ones with Eric Bana

Stardust
For what it was - a kid friendly, fairytale, fantasy movie - it was surprisingly good. Interesting and original storyline, nice special effects. Although it gets a little corny and slow at times, a pretty enjoyable watch.
3.4/5

Snow Falling on Cedars
Been out for a decade, and I think I never watched this movie because when I remember seeing previews it looked like some love story. While that is the central story of the movie, it has a lot more going on for it than that. It flashes back to that many times, but the movie progresses as a murder trial with the two leads and circa-WWII Japanese prejudice intertwined. The scenery and cinematography was brilliant, cast was very good with a great performance by Max Von Sydow actually playing a good guy. A little long, and I wouldve like some more screentime of the trial and preparing for it.
3.3/5

Bickford Schmeckler's Cook Ideas
Cast seemed decent, started off fairly intriguing, but after the first 20 minutes it just went in circles and wasnt funny. Couldnt even finish the movie. Only saving grace: Olivia Wilde  :-*
1/5

Milk
Penn was good, but after all the acclaim I was expecting more from his performance. For someone of his caliber - outside of all the guy on guy stuff - I think this was a pretty easy role to succeed in. I actually thought Franco and Brolin were better than him in the movie, but thats more a credit to them than knock on Penn. Easily Van Sant's best work since GWHunting, and I enjoyed how he laid out the story and mixed things together. I was more intrigued by the story than Milk himself, which I didnt expect and I think was partially due the film being fairly impersonal and more focused on the historical aspects.
4.1/5
