just watched "Tetro".  I'd rate it a 7/10 I suppose.  it's a super slow movie though.  The character Tetro was pretty cool.  It's mostly black and white with small segments of color.  shots of a play, boring but kinda necessary for the story.  If you can watch it for free and have nothing else to watch it's probably worth the 2hours...

The Cove - not an 'enjoyable' film & animal lovers/anyone with a heart will find it hard not to shed a few tears whilst watching this excellent, well made & horribly informative documentary.

Watch the movie & please sign the petition: http://www.thecovemovie.com/ (please sign it anyway even if you don't want to watch the film)

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Quote[Great sandwich in that movie!

It looks like it's a lot of good food in that movie... And even more in the special features. Well, or not for me - I'm a vegetarian.

Another great movie is American movie. You should foten judge a movie from it's special features, and American movie has the best extra material ever been shown to mankind.

American Movie is the funniest doc ever made and one of the best docs ever made for that matter.

Raging Bull last night - never seen it before.  I liked The Wrestler better.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

Amen to that. You should see Food Inc. too

Didnt understand the hype when I saw this. Good, but not great. Scorsese and DeNiro each have 10 movies that are better than Raging Bull IMO

just watched macgruber, thought it was quite hilarious.  Will Forte has always been one of my favorites of the new cast and his work with broken lizards is always funny.  Hope this guy gets to make some more movies.

Interesting.  The reviews have been mostly viscious, calling MacGruber the worst of the SNL skit-to-movie films.  I have high hopes for it, don't doubt its might stupid/silly, but there's a lot of hate for this film in the press.

I hate reviews of comedies.  It all comes down to whether or not you like Will Forte's style of comedy.  I don't want to give away any of the jokes because a lot of the reason they're funny is because they're completely random and out of nowhere.  towards the end it started to drag but when it's funny, at least I thought it was fucking insanely hilarious.

I'm not sure if the concept is over people's heads or if they really do think it's stupid but they basically setup the entire movie to be a fairly serious "action" movie.  The opening scene doesn't have any laughs and is fairly serious then as the movie unravels it just gets more and more ridiculous.  The reason the previews for it are so short is because every other word is a swear word.  Val Kilmer is the villain and his last name is basically "Cunt" but they say it "Cunth" in the movie haha I thought a lot of the laughs were super hilarious, minus a few.  I'm sure getting stoned and watching it had an effect on how much I liked it.   plus it was only like 85 minutes.

I'll try to watch it under Sticky conditions.  I agree w/the hesitation to take critiics too seriously.  Comedy is really dependent upon individual tastes.  I loved Tropic Thunder but Michele didn't care for it.  To each their own.

Yes, comedy is more subjective then most. However, I find the skit incredible dumb (normally not a bad thing) and worse UNFUNNY. It's unfunny the 3-5 minutes its on SNL so an 85 minute movie would just be painful. Like Pat, Stewart Saves His Family, Superstar, Night At The Roxbury painful.

In reference to the last 2 posts....

I thought Tropic Thunder sucked. and I like almost every Ben Stiller comedy that Ive seen. I thought it looked great in the previews, but it wasnt. RDJr was very unfunny to me. Best part of that movie was Tom Cruise.

Night At The Roxbury is awesome and is probably the best SNL skit movie since Wayne's World.

It's not like that though really.  It's more of the story of Macgrubers redemption haha.  It's not just Macgruber in a room making jokes and then a bomb explodes.  It's more about who Macgruber is and his history which I think is absolutely fucking hilarious.  "Time to pound some Cunth".  hahaha, I like night at the roxbury when it came out but I think will ferrell is a funny mother fucker and chris kattan(?) looks weird so it worked for me.  haha I want to tell some jokes but they won't be funny not in context to how forte delivers it.  that's what I appreciate about Will Forte as a comedian, when he's a character he is 100percent that character.  Some of it's predictable but again I think that's the point.  for it to be a cliche action movie.

I thought the Will Forte and Will Arnett comedy The Brothers Solomon was hilarious. I might be the only person in America who has seen it though.

Not quite as good, but still funny, is the Arnett comedy Lets Go To Prison

This is what I mean about comedy being subjective.  You guys are all over the place with what you like and hate regarding comedy.

I'd like to hear what you think are some of the better comedy films.  Here's a few from johnnYYac.

Walk Hard
Take the Money and Run
Young Frankenstein
A New Leaf
The Graduate
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Big Lebowski
Life of Brian
Harvey
A Christmas Story
This is Spinal Tap
Office Space
Evil Dead 2
A Fish Called Wanda

I thought that was a pretty funny movie, I'd like to watch it again sometime.  Did the story revolve more around Arnett though?  Is this Forte's first starring role film where it's all him?  I assume so.  He's such a hilarious dude.  completely underrated.

Get a buzz on for Macgruber and if you don't laugh a little bit I don't know what else to say, it was great.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
Tommy Boy
Macgruber
Wayne's World I & II
Austin Powers I,II, & III
Half Baked
Superbad
Me, Myself, and Irene

more will hit me in the balls once people start posting their lists

Which one of the 2 did you see?

In Brother Solomon, theyre brothers obviously, and basically every scene 1 of them is in the other one is too. So Forte wasnt the clear star, but both were more like co-stars
