"Little Richard" just killed me  ;D
For several weeks after watching this movie I kept asking my husband, "What should we do, Black Dynamite?" I'm pretty sure I got on his nerves.

Ruckus

Ha!  Thanks for the memories of Black Dynamite

Just saw Slammin' Salmon and the Black Swan, similar films about things that do things in/on water.

Thought Slammin' Salmon was solid and had its moments although one of the weaker Broken Lizard films.   The FRACAS IN CARACAS and The DISPUTE IN BEIRUT.  I'll knock you into bolivion!

I thought Black Swan was great and just glad I finally got around to watching it.  I think I got it :-\ ;D
It hit home with me because of a close family friend of ours that came to the States for a career in ballet and seeing first hand how unforgiving that world really is.
Can You Put Your Soft Helmet On My Head

Bigsky

I just watched "Year One" with Jack Black...fucking hilarious

13 Assassins - Cool samurai movie from Takashi Miike, sort of an homage to Seven Samurai. Liked this a lot more than previous films of his I've seen that were just too weird, only had one bizarre scene witch was still tame for him.

Ip Man - Solid martial arts movie about the mentor of Bruce Lee who taught the Chinese to defend themselves against crooks and the invading Japanese during WW2.

X-Men First Class - Best X-Men movie yet, highly recommend it if you liked the first 2 X-Men movies but was disappointed with the last 2.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I liked First Class a lot but it didn't quite meet my expectations. Like you said though, way better than the last 2. Want to see 13 Samurai...

Speaking of Japanese movies I saw Departures & The Girl Who Lept Through Time recently, both of which were very good:

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I love "Midnight in Paris." I want to run away with Marion Cottiard and fictionalized Hemingway. We can have a tortured love triangle. And threesomes. Lots of those.

Seriously, it's a gorgeous film. Allison Pill was great as my Zelda.

It's been ages since I seen the first 2 X-Men, I'll have to watch them again soon and compare. Not really into anime with the exception of Spirited Away, should I watch TGWLTT?

I want to see all of these films very badly. Also add to the list Beat Takeshi Kitano's return to Yakuza films, Outrage. I also have the acclaimed Korean revenge flick on my DVR: I Saw the Devil (starring Oldboy's Choi Min-shik), from the same director as The Good, the Bad, the Weird.

Did you ever see The Chaser witch I recommended? I could've sworn the same director did The Chaser that did I Saw the Devil, but just realized it's a different guy. That's how similar in style they are though. I have The Good, the Bad, the Weird lined up on Netflix.

No, not yet. I haven't seen The Good, the Bad, the Weird yet either, but there's a great movie store around the corner from my house that'll have it. He carries tons of Asian films.

If you're not a fan of anime then probably safer for me to say no. It's typical Japanese manga-turned-anime - quirky characters, strange story but it's definitely a cut above the rest (7.9 on imdb & 87% on Rotten)

Saw Vera Drake again last night - such a good film, probably Mike Leigh's best IMO with an exceptional performance from Imelda Stauton.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

The Descendants - very good but not quite as good as all the oscar buzz & 5 star reviews had lead me to believe.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Hawkeye

Super 8 - fun movie.  Nothing special, but better than average.  Definitely get the Goonies comparisons.
We could.

Jaimoe

Hall Pass - low-grade comedy with a few decent laughs, but relies too much on toilet humour and obvious set-ups along with a pointless car chase thrown in for good measure. Stephen Merchant steals every scene, especially during the end credits. Still, better than recent Farrelly Brothers efforts. I for one am not looking forward to their Three Stooges reboot.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

the rum diary - really beautiful, fun movie.  I miss hunter.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

take shelter - enjoyed this movie a lot.  not really sure why since not a whole lot happened in it.  I think it was the acting.  most of it was pretty good and almost every person minus the wife and kid are recognizable actors but not super popular ones.  the priest from deadwood, it stars Michael Shannon and co stars Shea Whigham both from boardwalk empire.  shit, it even has kenny powers bitch who he gets prego in it.

it's one of my favorite types of movies, the kind where you can't tell if the person is crazy or if what they're paranoid about is really going to happen, or maybe even both.  and it seems like a larger statement of the general paranoia of our country.  definitely has flaws, the ending is sorta sloppy and there's a couple meh scenes but overall for what it was, damn was there some solid acting.  one of the few movies I thought about the next day.  7/10

johnnYYac

Being home sick yesterday gave me the opportunity to see "Drive".  A great, stylistic piece of cinema, cool shots, cool music, cool characters, cool violence.  Left wanting something more with the ending, but 100 minutes well spent.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

I saw 50/50 and enjoyed it.   A comedy about cancer is a tough sell but I thought it was well-acted and had some good writing.   Exceeded (low) expectations.

I've had high expectations ever since it premiered at last September's Toronto Film Fest. The reviews across the board have been positive. However, I have a hard time stomaching anything with Seth Rogen in it. He's soooo fucking full of himself and is way over-exposed in a Jack Black kind of way, but at least Black comes off as nice in interviews etc... Rogen is a smug prick. I'm starting to hate he's Canadian. Hopefully he'll go Jim Carey on us hosers and never come back.
