Dang, what a bummer.   I was lucky enough to see the WS once at The Fox in St. Louis.  Amazing show for sure.   One of my favorite bands as well.   I guess I feel the most sad about Meg.  I know I will be able to get my fill of Jack, one of the most amazing musicians of our time.   But something tells me I'll never see Meg again, live or otherwise.   Hope I'm wrong.

Something tells me that within a few years she'll have a mental breakdown that goes public because of drugs and possibly get her arrested, appears in some amateur porn a year or two later, and within the next 10 years we'll have a White Stripes: Behind The Music

Nah. She married into a good family and her younger husband has his head screwed on straight. Meg has anxiety, but she's not nuts or self-destructive, or at least has never shown these afflictions.

J/K, Jaimoe

I did hear MY Doorbell last night and got kind of sad. I think GBMSatan remains their most underrated album for the time being.

I have no doubt that some time in the future there will be a large reunion tour though.

HighlySuspicious

I highly, highly doubt that we'll see a reunion from them.  I think they've both just moved to a point in their lives and career(s) where they are not able to make the band what they think it should be.  Although I'm still incredibly, selfishly disappointed because I never got to see them and I love their music so much, I have a great respect for this decision and I don't think it was made lightly in any way.  They went out at the top of their game!  I'm not a music encyclopedia by any means, but I think it's rare for a band of their magnitude to end with such a (relatively) clean break at such a point in their career.  I really think that they plan to just leave the band as it was, frozen perfectly in time, not marred by any failed attempts at trying to come back to it again to please the fans or something.  They always defied logic and popular belief though and played the game with a bit of mysticism and magic.  There will never be anything like them again, ever.
