Just beautiful!  :)

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I have the 2 disc Anthology (I think that's what it's called) and I love it.  Very laid back and cool stuff.  I really dig the tune "3am" or something like that, totally atmospheric and mind bending to me.

John Martyn reminds me a little of Nick Drake and is what I think Dave Matthews sounded like before Dave Matthews.

Pleased to see another fan!  :)

Solid Air (the song) is a tribute to Nick Drake. They both recorded on Island Records & John was one of the few friends Nick had.
It was after reading Patrick Humphries' Nick Drake biography that I first started listening to John.

Shocking, here's what he used to look like!

Hey, does anyone know how to get the email notifications to a "favorite" post?  I used to get them and I have it set to do that but since they upgraded the board I don't get them anymore.

Thanks for the link! Like the article says, he's a very heavy drinker & 'hit the self destruction button' after his divorce.

Here's a good video..."We've heard all about his darkest moments through his music. Some people keep diaries, John makes records."

Hey Tower, I checked his list of songs on allmusic & couldn't find 3am...can you confirm the title so I can check it out? Thanks

Not sure about the favourites...have never used the feature. Add To Favorites @ the bottom?

No converts after listening to those tracks?!!

Here's another great video:

It's actually called "Small Hours", sorry, the same tune as the video you posted...love that thing, I can lose shit in that.

The 2CD set I have is called "Sweet Little Mysteries" and it's an Island Anthology.

I also dig the tune "Johnny Too Bad", some weird effects and loops in there but groovin'.

Here's the CD

Yeah that video is amazing! I've just learned that Small Hours originally appeared on the album One World, which I've just ordered, along with Stormbringer, Sunday's Child, Inside Out, Grace And Danger & Glorious Fool.

....my boss at work loves John Martyn and I have listened to a lot of his stuff, I really like the early stuff but when he started getting really electric and had the echo over his voice, I thought that stuff was kind of lacking and just never really settled with me.....does everybody know that the song Solid Air is about Nick Drake???....
listen to vinyl

Are you a Steve Earle fan? He does a great version of Johnny Too Bad on his album Sidetracks...

Baby Please Come Home has to be one of the greatest break-up songs of all time...I almost wish my wife would leave me so i can appreciate it fully  ;) ;D

I like Steve Earle ok, sometimes he's too political for me or something but I think I've heard him do that tune.  I'd love to cover that with my band but I don't know that most people would recognize it anyway.
