So I'm finally a registered member and proud of it. I hope I'm posting in the right area--if not, I'm sure someone will kindly let me know.

It's a little scary how much I love the jacket. This may sound a little self-righteous, but I feel like their sound was meant for me, like they speak to me directly unlike no other sound /band has before, and I'm sure many of you have this feeling too. The closest I've felt to this type of musical connection, one so overwhelming in its power over me, was probably Led Zeppelin in my high school days. Unlike Zep, MMJ, I feel, is more mine/ours, which is understandable for obvious reasons. I totally love Led Zeppelin and every song they've made. MMJ is the same for me, every song in their catalogue I like. I often tear up a bit when I listen to these guys--its like their sound takes me back to a happy childhood memory--I can't really put my finger on it, but its something inside me that yearns for something and I'm not sure what that is, if that make any sense at all. I'm 35 years old and I have been listening to MMJ since It Still Moves and I see no end to this addiction--its almost a problem.

I feel like a lot of my friends/peers stopped listening to music recently, and I guess I can understand why--perhaps it was the 90s?... Anyway, music is indeed alive still, and MMJ is proof and my frinds/peers need to hear these guys-it'll bring that sense of wonder and enjoyment back to them, like when we used to listen to every sound Led Zeppelin and a few other bands made.

I'm glad to be another MMJ fanatic and I look forward to sharing and learning more with the rest of you who I feel like I can identify with.

Best,

a dude

Replace Led Zeppelin with Pink Floyd and I swear I could have written the EXACT same post.  Seriously scary dude.  Please tell me your name is not Dave.

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I think the first question most people will want to know is your thoughts on Nicole Atkins and if she can really sing or if she's a trampy whore who needs to keep her performances to herself.

Welcome to the disease called the Jacket. Don't worry, its not fatal. But causes rapid heart rate and a sticky tip  ;) :)

Yes, you said it. I like the word addicted better than obsessed, which is what I have been labeled by family and friends.

Addicted is better.

Time to stick another MMJ cd in and................

My Monkey Friend

Dude, I have the exact same opinion of MMJ. My favorite bands ever were Zep and the Allmanns, but I am 29 and have/will never seen them live. I dont really even remember how I found jacket, but it was my senior year at baylor 2001, at dawn just came out. I have been a addict ever since. I have seen them live a bunch, and connect with them perfectly. I feel like this is "my" band, and this is what it must have felt like to be a zep fan in the 70's. I listen to alot of different bands, but ALWAYS come right back to MMJ. It annoys my friends and family how much i listen to them, but i cant freakin help it. I really cant get sick of them.

Welcome, Melting.

All I can say to your post is "what he said".

I wish I had a reset button on my body, and could go back and rediscover MMJ for the first time every day.
