does anyone else feel that connection betweent he beginning of the album and kind of a similar feel to Van Morrison's Astral Weeks?

I agree, Trouble makes me think of Astral Weeks too.
Do you have his new one yet Tom? Prepare to be blown away if you haven't, def one of my albums of the year.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I just CAN'T get "Empty" out of my head!!!

tomEisenbraun

man, i need to pick this up sometime soon. he's coming to nashville, but i can't justify a 45 dollar ticket at the moment.

I've been to hell and back so many times, i must admit you kinda bore me.  What a fucking artist, empty is my fav of the new cd.  Decent article on him in the latest rolling stone.
I painted my name on the back of a leaf
and I watched it float away

Empty is amazing, Be Here Now blows me away too. Ray sings this song with almost a breathless urgency.
Absolutely stunning.
I would LOVE to see him live. Anyone seem a show? How many other musicians does he usually play with?
Till The Sun...is getting a bit of a push here but I doubt he'll tour anytime soon...

I love both cd's and especially Forever My Friend -

I just think if we keep our hearts together
I just think if we build on this trust we have for one another
Maybe we can make this last a lifetime

Are there really still men out there who think like that??????????

(well I've been saved by a woman)
other times I can barely see

Heads up - his performance on Austin City Limits (tis a repeat) is airing this weekend.

Last nights show at the Vic was AWESOME!  The crowd was really respectful and cool.  In the quiet moments there were lots of shout-outs:  "WE LOVE YOU, RAY!"  And we do.  No doubt.  This man is shy, humble, and oh so sweet.  He started singing "Can I Stay" (so sweet!) and I guess he screwed up (didn't sound like it to me) so he's like a little kid, says he's sorry, but he'll just start over again.  I really can't describe it in words here, but it was a special moment because you could just FEEL the vibe from the whole crowd and we were all like, "it's okay, man, we're just blessed to be here in this place listening to your incredible voice and your beautiful music"  He's not used to the spotlight AT ALL.  Anyway, I'm rambling, here's the set list:
EMPTY
BARFLY
GONE AWAY FROM ME
HOLD YOU IN MY ARMS
SHELTER
3 MORE DAYS
JOLENE
NARROW ESCAPE
(You don't know what it's like to love somebody...is that the name of this song??  The only one that's not his)
TROUBLE
TIL THE SUN TURNS BLACK
CAN I STAY
FOREVER MY FRIEND (I got up and danced to this one!  I just couldn't stand (ha!) sitting down anymore!  It was FANTASTIC!)
ALL THE WILD HORSES

Anyhoo, I really thought he would play ALL his songs and maybe a few more covers, but whatever.  I mostly missed HOW COME and YOU CAN BRING ME FLOWERS.  I was so bummed not to hear those two, but if the show's not sold out tonight, who knows?!  Maybe I'll boogie down and check it out!  The only problem was going out after the show to Wise Fools Pub to see one of my favorite local Chicago bands, Hello Dave, then pool til 3:00 am......ugh.
other times I can barely see

You're an animal Sue B.  I want to party with you.  Seriously.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.
