Ive only had the Blitzen Trapper album for about 5 days, but its quickly becoming 1 of my favorite album of 2008.

Furr and Black River Killer are both at the top of my favorite songs of the year, and theres only 1 song on the album (Love U) that misses even a little. At least to me

You can hear the various influences on numerous songs, but they have their own sound. I cant get enough of this album.

I like MMJ, Black Keys, Gutter Twins, TVOTR, and Raconteurs a lot, but they all had much more of a stronghold on things than Blitzen Trapper going into their releases. And I always enjoy finding a new band I like

BT may just be my favorite AOTY  :D

surely the best album of 2008 is "the seldom seen kid" by Elbow.
Musically and lyrically straight form the heart.
Saw them twice this year here in holland; june in amsterdam and this november in rotterdam. Both shows were fantastic!
Singer Guy Garvey has every sunday his own radio show on BBC 6 with his favorite music, form 22-00 british time, which you can listen on line (also the next week after) on this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/garvey/
Enjoy!

GG is gifted lyracist :) great frontman, too. He's really funny. When I saw them at Webster Hall, he made the audience sing "Killing me Softly" before they would come out for the encore.

Elbow is on my need to get list. Almost everyone Ive seen has liked it and it won the Mercury Prize, so it must be pretty good.

What Ive heard of Tea Leaf Green's stuff I liked...I need to check out there stuff more. I hear the live music is particularly good.

understand what you mean; he's funny, subtile and in a sincere (and in my opinion typical british) way. In rotterdam he did a little quiz about who was married or not in the audience (most not), before playing great expactations.
Specially liked opener starlings, with the trumpets, newborn (exploding halfway), the loneliness of a crawnedriver (just the title of this song), weather to fly and closing track scattered black and whites...

to they have any released live stuff, or should I try going the bit torrent route??

any shows/dates that are considered great by fans?? I know theyre somewhat of a jamband (no problem with me since Phish is probably my favorite band), so Id assume there are some fan favorite, or shows that you have that you like a lot

Just remembered about this band that I havent seened mentioned anywhere Ive seen threads like this. I was lucky just to come across them when I did

Parlor Mob - And You Were A Crow

The Zeppelin comparisons are inevitable, even the singer sounds a lot like Plant, but last time I checked, thats not a bad thing right?? Damn good debut album (hey, someone can take it in the draft  ;D)

Yes Elbow is up there on my list of great albums this year.
An don't forget their back catalog. Not a duff album in the lot.

Would love to see them live.

Agreed on all counts! All this talk of Elbow makes me smile  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.
