QuoteI got the album a few weeks ago, but I never got into it. Some tips regarding the songs?

Listen to them.

That was the part I was quite sure I should be doing, but the question is what songs. (and for those not so smart: I intent to listen to those on the last record, but I want to know if there are any outstanding songs, one or two in particular, I should listen to)

DLZ was the first track to grab me by the ear...

Quoteone focused listen of "shout me out" should do the trick.

It did, atleast for that song.
Gonna listen focused to the whole record tomorrow again, maybe there are some other songs

If you are having to force yourself to listen, I think that you should try something else... Maybe some DMB?

Bumbeli

I don't have to force myself, but I usually prefer listening to music I already know, but I'd like to widen my musical horizon.

I'm not into Dear Science yet, but it took me a long time to love Return to Cookie Mountain. By next year, I'll  be listening to it all the time.

I can't say that I enjoyed TV on the Radio's performance last night, but at least it was interesting. Can't say the same for SNL, which wins the weekly worst comedy award.

ALady

Yeah, that was my first time seeing them perform and it was a bit.....rough.  I still really like Dear Science, though.
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

ALady

I agree, that was better.  I wish they'd slow it down just a *touch* though, because I really like the lyrics on "Dancing Choose" and Tunde could barely get them out.

It's not that I don't find TV on the Radio compelling. The first time I was shown what they can do live (on an exclusive MTV Canada televised concert), I was extremely enthused. I bought Return to Cookie Mountain and I really love "Wolf Like Me", but who doesn't? However, even that album isn't an easy listen.

"Dancing Choose" came off better on Colbert than on SNL, but I still don't care for the song too much. The guitar is good though.

jones

I was expecting more on SNL; I didn't see the Colbert bit.  Nonetheless, still spinning the TVOTR.  Jai, Cookie Mountain is the one that hooked me!

QuoteThey brought a lot more last night on The Colbert Report...

Yeah. That was fucking great, IMO.

the other day I learned how to move a thread
and today I figured out 'the splice'
that's why his post is now a little odd.

tomorrow i'm gonna try out 'the whirl'!

CC's powers know no bounds, time and space cannot contain him.

This could become a serious headfuck...

wow coming back on here looking for a response I didn't realize there was a 4 page thread. unfortunatly I never found these guys in september when the rest of you did. Just saw them on snl and colbert report. Gotta say i dig it. But just like MMJ they will never be near me and will have to drive at least 10 hours to see them.

Most people on here knew of TV on the Radio long before september. Did you hear Any of the albums yet? I'd recommend all of them, but personally I think Dear Science is their best. BTW, where do you live?

Dear Science is growing on me, but Return To Cookie Mountain is still my go-to TVOTR.
