The man just blew me away with his take on "The Man in the Long Black Coat" from the I'm Not There soundtrack.
Whiskey For The Holy Ghost. Once you've bought that come back to me & we'll talk some more...
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I'm partial to "Live At The Harlem Square Club."

If you're not into live albums, maybe an extensive compilation?
There should be plenty.

I'm partial to his Screaming Trees years, so that would mean Sweet Oblivion.  He's also done alot of work with Greg Dulli that's worth listening to - their Gutter Twins album is done and due early 2008.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

The Cure?

Funny story: Back when I was in grade 6 we had a split class with the grade 5's.  I had the biggest crush on the intern who was helping my teacher.  She loved the Cure and was gorgeous.  I was very good in math and one day she asked me if I'd like to teach the grade 5's for her that day, my bumbled response "I love you".  I think I meant to say "I'd love to", but who knows anyways.  All in all, I think about her every time I think about how I have no Cure albums.

ummm
can any one advise me on Spacemen 3,  Beat Happening or Modern Lovers...?
I'd also like some oldies stuff... something like The Crystals or Mary Wells or Otis Redding.

I can speak to Otis. This is what you want. 3 discs with just tons of awesomeness and the 4th disc is all live. It might be a bit pricey, but it is SO worth it. You will not be disappointed.

They're palying here in may. I really like the stuff on their myspacepage. American Water got 9.9 at pitchfork (ok it's pitchfork... :-/). But is that a good record to start?
