If you're into loud, dumb rock like me, there are surely some albums worth owning.

You can hardly go wrong with the whole Bon Scott era, but if I had to recommend just one it's...

LET THERE BE ROCK

I am a connoisseur of loud, dumb rock (in fact, I pretty much love all types of music).

These are my AC/DC starters: (in no particualr order)

Back in Black
Highway to Hell
Let There Be Rock
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

First two are essential listening for pissed-up air guitar work on a weekend.  ;)
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

Here's a new question for someone like me who is stuck.

I've listened to alot of stuff from Led Zeppelin to Modest Mouse to Peter Bjorn and John, the velvet underground. I don't know what to get next though. I tried listening to a Captain Beefheart album and it's pretty cool but his voice is a bit bothersome. I'm thinkin about getting another Rolling Stones album as I just got Satanic Majesties Request, was a bit of a let down to be honest. What's a good stones album? Any bands that would be new to me and blow my balls off?

We just had a Stones thread on this. I reccomend Exile, Let It Bleed, and Sticky Fingers.

Get the Stones' Let It Bleed. You will not be let down.

And if you like the rock and roll, get Rush's Moving Pictures

Do you know Morphine? Get Cure for Pain

Also, you might consider re-posting your question on it's own thread. I do that from time to time and get a lot of good music suggestions.

Here's how I'd go:

Daydream Nation
Goo
Dirty
Rather Ripped
Washing Machine
Sister

The DARK

Don't forget Bad Moon Rising. That album is an absolute TRIP.

But yeah, start with Daydream.

I posted this elsewhere, but to be official:  Explosions in the Sky?
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place. I believe Brian would agree. Gorgeous record.  Then I'd get their debut.  It will totally kick your ass.  :)

Mark Lanegan

The man just blew me away with his take on "The Man in the Long Black Coat" from the I'm Not There soundtrack.
