The anticipation and wonder about the Hangout setlist is great. First show after the new album is released (hopefully)? Rare old nugs might be scarce this summer, but the beach might bring some great covers. This could be a really special show, but regaurdless I'm gettin itchy for Jacket summer '11 to start at Hangout. I was all against an "urban" festival, but Im getting psyched that my ladies sister convinced me to go. Finished paying her for my ticket/condo this morning, so its official!

Has anyone heard or posted what night MMJ are playing?

Friday night.

The Flaming Lips are playing Saturday and the Black Keys are playing Sunday so MMJ will most likely play Friday.  Unless Hangout has a big trick up their sleeve, those 3 are the bands that will close the 2nd stage each day.

Interesting.....from where does this info come, just out of curiosity (not mistrust  ;)) ?

And by second stage do you mean main stage???

I personally would love to see the Flaming Lips close the festival. Go out with a bang, with out it being the biggest bang. (jacket.)

not sure where dude got his info but the black keys website says they are playing on sunday and the lips site says they are playing saturday. I know there are gonna be 5 stages this year so I am sure the second stage thing is pretty accurate. not the main stage which will have simon, foo fighters, and panic closing each night.

Thanks Penny.  I bet Trish $20 right after I posted my comment that you'd be the first to image search speedos at work and post a picture.

beyond excited for this lineup....i have not fully absorbed the entire depth of this list of performers.  bob printed out the little lineup poster for me, and it is sitting on my kitchen counter....i keep referring to it, and going, oh yeah.....(insert fanfuckingtastic act here) will be there!  super duper excited.

Another cool interview with the festival founder/organizer AJ Niland! I'm liking this dude more and more as I read about him. I definitely think we're in good hands

It's kinda long, so to sum up the new stuff: he said the late night tent will be 3,000 capacity and that shows in there will go "till the wee hours of the morn."

He also claims that single day passes may not be sold at all this year due to the demand for 3-day passes. FINALLY, he also said a string band from New Orleans will be added in the next round of artist additions amongst others....wonder who that could be??

73 days and counting!!  :D :D

So are the late night shows gonna be repeats of artists already playing or something?

That's what happened last year for the few that were featured. Keller Williams, for example, did a set, and Matisyahu stepped in to play with him.

I don't really know what to expect though because the whole late night scene is pretty much a new thing for the festival. The late nighters last year were last minute improvisatory after thoughts on behalf of the planners.
