RIP Jerry

This is a pretty cool thing going on in Charlottesville, VA

Look closely under the spotlight during Wednesday's show at Charlottesville's nTelos Wireless Pavilion. Warren Haynes will be up there playing a borrowed guitar.
The celebrated guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band and Gov't Mule has instruments of his own to choose from, of course. But for the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration, in which Haynes joins forces with the Richmond Symphony, he took advantage of an opportunity to borrow Wolf.

Man I love that guitar. What a beautiful piece of art.

And I still miss Jerry dearly.

I'm having another Dead listening party tonight, been trying to find a night it works for everyone and we landed on Aug 1st a few weeks ago.  I totally spaced that its Jerry's birthday!  Yet another unsurprising cosmic synchronicity....

Here's what I'm spinning, a composite show from (mostly) 1979 that I cooked up.  Early Brent is so fucking good!

Lazy Lightning>
Supplication Nassau Nassau 5-15-80
Brown Eyed Women Oakland 12-26-79

Hopefully it's nothing serious and Bobby can get out playing again soon.

This is disappointing news though, because I was so looking forward to seeing him with Ratdog in September along with CRB and seeing what kind of collaborations were going to come between the two bands.

I'm also beginning to wonder if I'm just not meant to see CRB?!  :undecided: I've been on vacation the last two times they've toured and they've played 2 nights in Cleveland each tour.  And now, I'd be very surprised if CRB went on and played the tour without Ratdog, but I'm a glass half full kind of a person so I'm holding out hope...

Santa Clara kicked ass, Trey sounded fantastic. If you're heading to Chicago this weekend have a blast! After last weekend my wife started coming the web for flight deals to Chicago.

Trey is still sitting in during all the CHicago shows right?  I seem to remember hearing something about John Mayer doing a few shows with them, which just sounds like such a step down

walterfredo

Trey in Chicago too

Anyone going to Chicago? I'm leaving Thursday and will be at the Sunday finale.

Nice!  Did you do both shows in Santa Clara?  Good luck on scoring tickets for Sunday!!!

Unfortunately, I can't swing going there in person but I'm going to be doing the pay per view at least.  Funny how I've never done any pay per view for a sporting event but I will for the Dead!

Tickets for all 3 nights have been secured, thanks to kind and generous friends.

Love Chicago in the summer! This is going to be a ton of fun.

I didn't know they were doing this at Tinseltown. Maybe I can go tomorrow bc I already have plans for tonight.

I have gone there the last few years for the Grateful Dead meet up at the movies to see an actual Grateful Dead show on the big screen and in surround sound and it has been awesome!

LBSUNFLWR

:undecided: Hope everything worked out. The daily rain can't be helping.

It is at Tinseltown tonight July 4th and tomorrow night.
We may head there tonight instead of watching fireworks in our park nearby. Especially if the weather is bad. I imagine they'll play a great show for July 4th!

Movie time is at 8 and it says 5 hours!!!

much improved from Santa Clara

agreed, even tho I still really enjoyed the CA shows.

What a great weekend of music. Trey is a superstar.

LBSUNFLWR

I didn't go either. Once I saw it was 5 hours we realized we couldn't leave our dog that long while fireworks were going on. He's scared of them. And they do them right down the street and it's super loud.

I got a link to the video last night and tuned in just in time to watch Althea and Terrapin. Glad I got to see that much at least.

Will be on the lookout for the soundboards to hopefully be released soon.

I'm not a phish fan but was very impressed with what I heard from Trey during these shows. Standing on the Moon especially.

walterfredo

What a weekend! Holy shit was that awesome.
