I have also heard that the set break music that was all done by Neal Casal was just perfect. Some of it can be found on youtube.

The set break music was great. You can hear it, and the shows themselves, here: https://soundcloud.com/quinfolk

I love that Neal is getting so much praise for that set break music.  I was coming home from a party on Saturday and put on the Grateful Dead channel on SiriusXM and it was intermission and the hosts were praising Neal's intermission music.

Then my wife and I went to see the Sunday show at a theater and got to actually hear it and it was truly mind blowing...  Especially when you add Justin Kreutzmann's video and graphics to it...

wow. I shall be listening all day today then!!
I was so lucky to get to see Jerry 1 time only. Went to my first, last and only Grateful Dead show on 06-25-1995 at RFK Stadium in Washington DC. I was 20. last song was Brokedown Palace.

here's the set. Not really a great show in the grand scheme of things, so close to the end, and I am just so happy I went! Got to hear Box of Rain which was my first favorite song when all I had was American Beauty as a teenager. And the last 3 songs were great to hear. There were only a few more shows after. I have never gone back and listened to it again.

Shakedown Street, Wang Dang Doodle, Jack A Roe, Mama Tried*-> Mexicali Blues*, Loose Lucy, Picasso Moon, Box Of Rain, Rain, Samson & Delilah, Ship of Fools, Truckin'-> Rollin' & Tumblin'-> Samba In The Rain-> Drums-> Space-> Wharf Rat-> Not Fade Away, E: Brokedown Palace

Just realized you posted that yesterday, so I am a day late but oh well!!

I'm starting the day with the 2 disc mix I made from my favorite songs from the incredible Winterland 77 Boxset. I have uploaded it to dropbox if anyone else would like to hear it. It's my go-to Live GD.

here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/71qzyheflp75vxf/AADn6enrCCONeJHl62IpuBx4a?dl=0

all my favorite songs and the best versions of them
from that 10-disc Winterland '77 Box set.
enjoy!

Nice, Lisa! I've been listening to pretty much nothing but the Dead since last Friday, and this will be yet another welcome custom set.

You have that Winterland '77 box set, eh? Care to sell it?

I just have a digital copy. A download is probably fairly easy to find.  :cheesy:

Good news! New show announced.

Bad news! Looks like Wonderful Union is a big part of this lol. If you go to the website listed you can see Wonderful Union stuff (it's not ready yet).

I saw Jerry and the boys just twice - both Highgate VT shows, 94 & 95.

maybe it's just me, but that sounds awful.  After the amazing chicago experience, I'm officially retired.

ajclements004

how does this seem awful?  Oteil is amazing!  Mayer has been playing with Phil and is on point as well.

walterfredo

not a fan of Mayer and have no desire to see him play Jerry.  I said my goodbyes the good ole grateful dead in Chicago, when they said their goodbyes to the fans.  Obviously they can choose to do whatever they want in any capacity.  Personally, I wish they would let it go.  I've never really enjoyed any of the many incarnations of the band that I saw after Jerry died, but Chicago was the perfect ending.

and yes, I love Oteil too.  Wish ARU would do a full tour.

I don't get it... Are people just putting some much $ in front of them that they can't say no?

I like Mayer's guitar playing and couldn't hit up the Chicago shows so I'm excited about this. 3/4 of the Dead is still good for me and I'm a fan of Oteil. Mayer can be really good when he's not singing songs about wonderland bodies and daughters.

I don't think there was ever an indication that the members would stop all together, Chicago was just billed as the last time all the surviving members would play together, so for these gigs there's no Phil Lesh.

i understand that but American Express presents "Dead & Co" playing the Time Warner Concert Series doesn't quite invalidate my comment...

BTW - don't get me wrong, if I have the chance, I will go see this :)
