Hey!  I haven't forgotten yinz guys!  Just waitin for my friend to head down to Pitt for the Phil Lesh / Warren Haynes Xmas Jam in two weeks!!  He'll have a copy of that Jersey show in tow!!

I sent my assistant manager that Dead link that Sticky posted, and she's super pumped!  She said she's had a really hard time finding the first show she ever went to... she said it was in Cincinnati in '76.... so I went on Archive and found a Cinci show from 10-2-76!!  FIRE.  I'm downloading it now, and I hope it's the one she was at!!  And if so, I can't wait to see her face!!!  I'm streamin' it right now..... just pure fire....

Would've loved to be in San Francisco for the 30th, and 31st for the Furthur shows. I've heard some great things about both shows, and who wouldn't like to see Bill Walton on stage at midnight dancing as Father Time!  ;D

Here's the NYE show up on Archive:

This has been a hot discussion topic of late in GD land. First some backstory-Billy played with Matt Kelly in Kingfish for a short period of time and at the Denver shows in Feb of '85 Billy was not pleased with his payment and proceeded to beat the shit out of Matt. Then while Matt was unconscious on the ground, Billy hauled off and kicked him in the nuts. This resulted in a lawsuit a couple years later.  http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=861&dat=19871108&id=IwocAAAAIBAJ&sjid=CVkEAAAAIBAJ&pg=5082,1924308
Less than a month after the Denver beatdown Matt performed with the GD at Nassau and this happened.
Check the 8:50 and 14:50 mark.  :o

Trying to figure out what happened with the lawsuit. Some one has said it was settled for 90k, but hasn't been able to back it up with public record. Supposedly to combat Matt's claim of impotency Billy hired a stripper to hit on him at a party. The stripper testified in court that they had sex. The whole thing just sounds bizarre and ugly. Granted they were all doing mountains of blow at the time, but...
It's been funny since so many fans assume they were all peace and love and don't/didn't realize just how down and dirty the scene could be back in the day. If anyone who is skilled at searching through public records can come up with some solid info, please share.

My husband is at the Terrapin Crossroads unannounced-last-minute-pseudo-opening right now.  Free.  Seeing a full-on Phil/jackie Greene/Tim and Nicki Bluhm/Jeff Chimenti show right now.  All Dead tunes start to finish.  But I can't complain, right?  Saw the brilliant New Multitudes show this week!!  Super fun, from the looks of it, though!!!

Thanks for making a new home for the Deadheads among us in this forum John!   8)

My first shows were at Richfield Colisem, Sept. 7th & 8th, 1990 and it was their first shows played after Brent's passing.  I had just started my sophomore year in college.  I had been a fan of the Dead since high school, but never had the chance to go see them live.

First Night's Setlist:

Cold Rain & Snow, Walkin' Blues, Ramble On Rose, Me & My Uncle-> Big River, Althea, When I Paint My Masterpiece, Bird Song, Picasso Moon, U.S. Blues China Cat Sunflower-> I Know You Rider, Truckin', Crazy Fingers-> Playin' In The Band-> Drums-> Jam-> I Need A Miracle-> Black Peter-> Turn On Your Love Light, E: Knockin' On Heaven's Door

I saw them several more times usually when they would swing through Buckeye Lake, Deer Creek, and Pine Knob on their summer tours.

My most epic show was my last show on June 6th 1995 at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh:

Set 1 Hell In A Bucket West L.A. Fadeaway Take Me To The River Candyman When I Paint My Masterpiece Bird Song The Promised Land Set 2 Rain Box Of Rain Samba In The Rain Looks Like Rain -> Terrapin Station -> Drums -> Space -> I Need A Miracle -> Standing On The Moon Encore Gloria

This run I bolded was something I will never forget.  It was a beautiful sunny evening as they blasted through the first set.  During the break, the skies began to darken and just as they ripped into the first chords of Rain to open the 2nd set, the skies let loose and the rains came down and it was just incredible.  And by the time they got to Terrapin, the stars were beginning to shine again!  Truly a face melting moment!   :D

First off, I was at those Richfield shows, too and it was weird.  Very weird.  Even weirder is the RAIN set at Three Rivers.  It was one of those Dead-control-the-weather moments.  They happen.  This was something I will never forget!

My first show was the second night of Hampton '87 and my last was the Chicago '95 last show.  I think I saw 153 shows in that span of time.  Or at least that's how I've pieced it together!!  :)  I quit my job to go on the entire Dead tour that last summer.  I was summoned before it was too late!!!!  Now I just trawl around MMJ message boards and look for MMJ vids on youtube.  Not.  Obsessive.  At.  All.

Yeah.  It was uncanny how that band could do such things right?   8)

And I hear ya about the whole obsession with MMJ.  As I've said, I never thought a band could fill the void left when Jerry died, but MMJ certainly has done that for me!   :)

Bob & Jerry "Second That Emotion" on Letterman

Had a weather moment at Saratoga 1986, skies parted just as the show started, clouded up and resumed rain right after the encore.   :D

Listening to Veneta, Oregon 8-27-72 on archive.org.  I forgot how freakin' KILLER this show is!  Incredible Playing In The Band and Dark Star, excellent China Cat>Rider and Bird Song and lots of others.  What a great lethargic, lysergic, languid jamming show!
