A few others

The Flaming Lips Pilot at the Queer of God
Morphine - Cure for Pain
Polaris - Coronado II

Great Lips song! I got into Lips with their more recent stuff first and then went back through their older stuff and Transmissions is becoming one of my favorite albums of theirs.
Transmissions is my favorite album of theirs and possible one of my favorite of all time. *hint hint*

How about some good Hard Pop? The killer live on Letterman clip was removed, but this gives a good idea of how good Matthew Sweet can be.

Nothing says early 90's like these hacks (along with Al Gore and Donna Dixon):

Pixies - Head On/Bird Dream of the Olympus Mons
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

Be the cliché you want to see in the world.

What about Jeff Buckley. I think he had some influence on Jim.

Tried every way, but it won't let me embed. The link works.

Urge Overkill....nuff said

Apparently they reunited and have an album do in the next month.

I think this was the best Era for music!  Great thread.  I was going to post Black Metalic by Catherine Wheel but noticed someone else did that.  I think up until around 1995-96 the music was incredible and had a disctinct sound.
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....

Great topic!!! To quote Eddie Vedder, "speaking as a child of the 90's", I'd like to first apologize to anybody that I got into a barfight with...unless of course, you kicked my ass and then I'd like to challenge you to a thumbwar or a game of "Words with Friends" to settle the score  ;).  There is soooo much good music, but here are some of my favorites:

"http://www.youtube.com/embed/g4H5vsQM7z8" Blind Melon

"http://www.youtube.com/embed/UH-WK3m3jBs" Alice in Chains

"http://www.youtube.com/embed/IBgRpscIvvM" Temple of the Dog
soft and warm all the time make you want it over and over

One of those band of the early 90's still going strong, still selling out shows, and still putting out good music.  Love me some 311

They were probably guilty of letting themselves be over-hyped by the 'hip' press, but their music didn't sound like hackery to me.  But I guess it's possible that my hackery-detecting sensors got broke in the early 90's and never got repaired.

The PIxies perform "U-Mass" live

and I'll continue to have a crush on Kim Deal.  you can't stop me.

I used to listen a lot to  "grunge" music a couple of years ago, although these days I don't listen it much anymore. There's one particular album I always get back to: "Above" from Mad Season. Perfect album from the best "supergroup" (Barrett Martin, Mike McCready, John Baker Saunders, Layne Staley and sometimes Mark Lanegan) of the 90s IMO. Layne Staley has such a powerful voice. One of the best works of McCready also :). Think it's really an underrated album!

Mark Lanegan + Layne Staley: Dreamteam  :o. One of my favorite songs ever!
Mad Season - Long Gone Day

Aw I see... the kiddin' vibes tend to get distorted when they have to make their way thru the interweb.
