I think last year it rained the whole weekend but heard the year before was an incredible time. I've never done this and would like but after doing 5 fests last year--me thinks I need some time off. (except for the Schneider family fest of course)

That Jeff Tweedy's a fucker! Did he really say that about MMJ? (lol...kidding...but I could totally see him saying that) I bet Jay Farrar would never say that.
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

Actually, Solid Sound didn't happen last year, I seem to recall.  I was just getting into Wilco after the 2010 Solid Sound and was bummed it didn't happen this past summer, so I am definitely giving this a try.  I don't see Forecastle happening, so Solid Sound and Newport will be my summer fests...

I'm a huge Wilco fan, but Tweedy is indeed a major ass.  For whatever reason he seems to talk a lot of shit about other musicians/bands.  I think he's one insecure dude!

bartel

surprising if jeff said that about MMJ but whatever he can say whatever he wants.. still love yah mr. tweedy.

Yac - there was a Solid Sound last year, it was this year that they took off. And someone mentioned rain - yes, it was wet as hell. They had to delay the first night's show about an hour because of lightning but when they finally came out they tore shit down.

I'm glad they took the year off because I think the fest organizers needed to regroup. It was fun but not as fun as it should have been in my opinion. Either Way I'll be there next summer with bells on.

I officially love Wilco.  Forever and always.
Wilco - At Least That's What You Said (Rockpalast 2012)

Btw, I picked up the MP3 of Whole Love on sale on Amazon and it is damn good! Art of Almost and Dawned on Me are some of my favorites from their entire catalogue.

I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck

Seeing Wilco with my girlfriend on Saturday night in Vail, CO!!!  Our 6th time seeing them this year.  So excited.  Loved each show I've seen on this tour.

Nice. Aren't they playing the whole weekend at a ski resort or something?

It rained in 2011 (no SSF in 2012)...Friday and Saturday nights, torrential downpours. We also got a quick storm on Sunday, but then we got to see Levon Helm Band close out the fest.

This is a fantastic festival...not crowded, the art installations are amazing, they're raising a lot of money for charity and, most importantly, beer is so reasonably priced!  As far as artist collaborations, it's my understanding there are always artists with whom Wilco or its members have collaborated in some form or another.

I do remember Tweedy making that comment, and Stirratt himself had a little eye roll to give recently when someone mentioned MMJ opening up for Wilco a few years ago. Then someone pointed out I'm a big Jacket fan and he seemed kind of embarrassed.

I snagged an early worm and booked a hotel early on, so I'll be there, God willing.
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

I've got two early worm passes, so I will be there with a friend who hates MMJ, but we go way back so I won't let that ruin our relationship.  Working on convincing another friend to join us.  We're thinking of camping.  Looking forward to it!

Solid Sound Roll Call!

"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

e_wind

Planning on it, but not committed yet. There are other festivals I'm interested in.

I don't really understand why Wilco hates on the jacket
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

Well, I just got super excited to see this in June: http://usa.chinadaily.com.cn/epaper/2013-01/04/content_16081280.htm

Yac, I'll be there with two others in tow. I believe deathstick will be gracing us with his gentlemanly presence as well

Yes! We're pretty much as definite as you can be without yet having tickets or a room booked. Between the holidays, new years, and the engagement I've been spending money like I have it. Once I catch up I'm getting us tickets. My girl isn't big on camping so we'll definitely be getting a room. I'm thinking I should book a room before as soon as possible.

Can't wait, hope for no rain this time around!!!

Sassbox

You might want to start making calls NOW. I booked back in June and it was already tight. Apparently the festival/band booked the entire Holiday Inn, so there are a lot of rooms off the table in an already too small market.

In fact, I am scouting around for a room for a friend and someone just told me there are absolutely no rooms in North Adams or in the immediate surrounding areas.
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

Angelo

Ouch, seriously? In 2011 we stayed in Vermont which was about a 20 minute drive to N Adams. I was hoping to avoid that this year. Thanks for the heads up, guess I better get my ass in gear.

Sassbox

Unfortunately, yes. A bunch of us tried to book the Holiday Inn the day reservations opened, only to be told the festival booked the entire hotel. Most of us were able to find a place relatively close by, though. You might want to start calling and putting your name on waiting lists if any of the places offer that.

Best of luck! I'll let you know if I hear of anything, too.

Just picked on Summerteeth on Amazon for $6! I really have been enjoying these guys.  A Ghost is Born might be my favorite.  I'm looking forward to their next LP this year and the tour to go with it!
