First Light, Freak Out, and HOTMB are ripe for expansion. I hope that is a prophecy. Oh, and Slow Slow Tune.

My only issue aside from the streaming for the first 1/3 of the show as that HOTBM is in need of something else. I can't put my finger on it. But whatever is missing, once added, will make it explode.

At the show last night the only thing I could think of that it was missing was a Hot Sweaty Mosh Pit.
Y'all got any disco ball back there?

BH

How did they end up using everyone's eye pictures.  I don't remember seeing any eye pics.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

they were on the end monitors below the big eye flashin real fast no way I could pic out mine.  I did notice lots were used multiple times so I'd say everyone's were used at least once.

It was during Highly Suspicious.  The photos went by too fast for me to try to pick mine out.

WHOOOO!  It was off the hook.  I WAS at Return to Thunderdome, all the Bonnaroo shows, the Prom in Athens, and every where in between, and I concur.....best show ever.  Everything lined up perfectly for this event.  How about Erykah Badu on Tyrone?  JJ was wailing during his solo 3 minutes in, and then she went and blew the roof off that place when she started wailing towards the end.  Just amazing.  The heat. Was. Killing.  I had to strip off my "fancy" accoutrements, and everytime I started to feel like "I can't take anymore" the euphoria hit me and my fists would start pumping and my lungs were singing louder.  A good warm-up (so to speak) for Bonnaroo next week though.  and whoever said it was reminiscent of the making of the album, I completely agree.  I think it's nice to have a/c but when it's hot and sticky like that, the whole crowd seems to get kind of euphoric.

Patrick must have been dying from that heat.  He's such a beast.  2nd row seats for this show = pretty fucking special event in my MMJ experiences.  Next week is a date with the Main Stage at Bonnaroo...my 20th MMJ show.  Pleasure to meet you Kory (and your bad-ass beard!) and wish I could have met some other folks.  It's proven to be tough for me to meet people from forums irl.  But DejaView and anybody else going to Bonnaroo, I would love to have some kind of forum meetup at the pit.  Got to represent.

That would work.

Those songs had me jonesin' for a jam out so hard though.

im going to preface this with the fact that this is probably the most petty thing i have ever said.

thats the only thing that truly bothered me, i wanted to see a freak out during freak out.  at the end when those distorted fuzzy guitars come in... thats all ive thought about since probably my 3rd listen to the album.  i wanted to see a little more from the day is coming and freak out.  those two songs have the potential to become monsters.

god, the slow songs are fucking incredible live.

there will never again be a performance of holdin on to black metal like we witnessed last night.

out go the lights it begins

it's something that will take time. a jam has to come from within, when they have an open-ended set time and the freedom to just let loose. while I complain they didn't jam out, I also don't expect it yet. Those songs are blueprints for something more to evolve from.

I was thinking maybe there were still sample vocals on Black Metal.   I don't think those girls were singing all of that.   I don't care, just wondering.

oh no, they were definitely singing.  they brought the house down.

Should we be concerned? No posting from DejaView2011 for over 24 hours.

Did he make it through his first gig, or was the meltage too severe?

I like to think of him driving around the backstreets of L'ville in a post-Jacket haze, the strains of HOTBM blasting from the windows of the Circuitalmobile...

The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

A couple more observations:

After seeing more great close up footage, I have officially been completely blown away by the pure awesomeness of Two Tone Tom.   WOW.   :o

Also, I think Carl's solo touring has really pollished his pipes.  He sounded better than ever.    Plus, more Carl Sax = Good.   Real good.    That man can do no wrong.   His guitar sounds were superb.   The feel he puts in to the steel.    Wonderful.

He really stuck out to me the last time I saw them (Chastain Park, ATL).  I also noticed him a lot while watching the webcast.  I love the position he assumes on some songs ( most noticeably, OBH) .  He crouches down a little with one leg out in front, almost like he's bracing himself in case shit gets real crazy.  ;D

Yeah, something isn't right.  He should have posted something by now.  I guess I'll bake a cake and put a file in the middle so as to be ready to get the man out of which ever jail he found himself in.
And all that ever mattered will some day turn back to batter, like a joke.

Was anyone close to him at the show? Maybe his head exploded from the massive sonic haymaker that the Jacket threw. I was looking forward to reading his comments about his 1st show.

I was wondering the same thing.   I posted under his "hello" thread that I was enjoying his enthusiasm and good spirits - then he got all quiet on us?!

I loved being able to see everyone so up close and personal.  I miss a lot of these things during the live show, due to head thrashing and the general dissociative fugue state i find myself in.

Always enjoy seeing Tommy smile , and enjoyed all the close ups of Carl, Bo and Patrick too!  I really find myself concentrating a lot more on Carl these days, and I feel he has stepped up his game big time.

Deja -- hope you aren't in jail.
