So I gotta go all Beer Fest and get to that state of mind to remember anything that happened at the good ole Hangout Fest.

Hangin' with and meetin' so many cool peeps.  Wow!  What a time.  Awesome to hang with the crew and it was great seeing scosby again..  Also very nice to briefly meet ewind for the first time as well as Goldeneagle.  Bob, Trish, and Ky are honestly too kind hearted to be real. :)  darkglow and twofingers know how to do it right!  Penny is....Penny ;D

Some things that stick out:

Cutting off the top of my little toe right before leaving my house to go to the airport on day one.  DOH!  Kept me out of all hot tubs and swimming pools and oceans except for at one in the morning of day two.  Then I felt my toe flopping around in the waves and decided to get out.

Meeting the legendary easyrider who would magically supply me with my favorite of all favorite beverages, Evan Williams Black Label, in the most opportune moments. I.e., one of the rail dead center for both MMJ and DBT, and gobs and gobs of it.  Great to meet someone that rocks as crazily as me at shows!  You are the man! 8)  We shall rock again!

Watching twofingers tie up darkglow who was resting his eyes on our balcony at 2 in the morning with a bungie cord to a beach chair than watching darkglow's awesome buddy crawl under the chair and jostle him while immobilized.

Having a magic wand fight at the souvenir shop with twofingers.  Potter and Malfoy had nothing on us.

Royal Red shrimp!  Thanks to a local that Ky met on the plane that recommended them to her.  I LOVED 'em!

Smoking Misty 120 menthols with Justin Bieber.

Meeting Toucan Sam late night by the pool.  That guy had the hook up if you know what I mean.  (rhymes with boot soups)

Frozen daquiris.

The great burrito toast (as in CHEERS!)

darkglow's beautiful outfits.  I particularly enjoyed the flamboyant hula hooping sheik and naked Slimer.

Discussing why most wolf tshirts and souvenirs have three or more wolves on them.  Does three constitute a pack?

Long Ash cigarettes and spark rocks.

Darkglow's mother screaming, "Grace Potter and THE NOCTURNALS!"  a few times and having access to a massive black market supply of Misty 120s.

Consuming at least 8 types of beverages prior to noon everyday.

Oh yeah and the music happened  :)

EDIT:  I forgot to add that I very briefly met General Wesley Clark at Atlanta Airport.  NEATO!

Glad everyone seems to have returned home safely from Hangout! I'll try to avoid being repetitive, but the highlight of my experience was meeting so many of you folks (you know who you are  ;)).

This was my first show where I met forum folk, and we sure as hell had the best fanbase of the festival. And I assure you I speak with complete and total bias in that statement.
In the words of Ruckus: We shall rock again!

There was just too much good music to summarize, so I'll keep it MMJ related:

TMIGTS II was the best version Ive heard live to date. I've never been a huge fan of it live, but this version was full, and it definitely reached heights I've never heard before.

Smokin' from Shootin' was also very intense. I zoned in on the seated Carl and he seemed like a giant on that pedal steel. As others have said, he has become larger than life on stage and I love his presence. It felt more like a stand-alone tune rather than a transitioner, and I really enjoyed it that way.

The other festival set norms were mind blowing as always, and Jim seemed to have some pep in both his step and vocals that night.

As far as the new ones go, I cannot wait to see how they evolve. They seemed refreshingly raw onstage, and despite what they lacked in perfect flow they truly shined with intensity. All of the fresh tunes had a new kind of inexplicable excitement that surrounded them- Victory Dance and Black Metal especially.

This was only my second time hearing Steam Engine, but the birds above stage and the "red patoka sea" lyric next to the gulf made it mind-blowingly sublime. When Jim hopped up onto the drum set platform and shared the moment with Patrick my mind blew to bits.

Despite the early onset of severe Evan Williams-induced dehydration that I was experiencing, this was a warm-feeling festival Jacket set that I am truly grateful to have shared wth like minds. Let the summer tour begin!!!

May you all be steamed as we were- helplessly and happily:

"As citizens of eternity we ought to be without anxiety."

Thanks all for the great re-caps.  Sounds like so so much fun.  Nice to hear that the music is what brings everyone together but the people are what helps make it all so special.

Guessing that the memories of the good times aren't likely to fade anytime soon.
was some shakin' and some record playin'

I remember looking up at the sky at a bunch of kites flying on the beach during Steam Engine and then seeing a row of about 5 or 6 seagulls gliding over the top of the stage in perfect formation and thinking about how there was no other place I'd rather be.

thank you so very much for bringing this image back to my mind. I was afraid I lost epic moments of this show somewhere in the caverns of time forever. I also thought I was the only one to spot the uniformed seagulls amidst the kites and setting sun.

Was a mmj virgin and am now forever a follower haha Must say seeing them for the first time on the beach has to be the greatest way to. I cant wait to catch em again in charlotte!

MMJ killed it at the hangout.  there were a lot of fans that made it to their set.  incredible energy all around.

victory dance was my call for opener and it was incredible as were all of the new songs that got played.  but first light is the new monster in the set.  words can not describe how great this was live.  it has rock anthem written all over it.

MMJ was probably the biggest selling point for my group to head down and none of us were disappointed; although, 1.5 hours was not long enough.  a couple of older tunes as a bone would have been nice.  was really hoping for honest man or phone went west.
