Top of my list is an easy choice:

Pink Moon - Nick Drake (everyone should own this)

Love a good album in the fall. I have a ton but the first one that comes to mind for some reason is REM's New Adventures in Hi-fi.

It's my favorite REM album and brings back a lot of great memories this time of year.

Great thread

funny you should say that; we were leavning a dinner last night late and it was cool outside and the moon halfway up in the sky and my wife started singing Pink Moon.
Be the cliché you want to see in the world.

Game Over!!!

Agreed. First album that popped into mind when I saw the thread title. I will add, pretty much every Neil album sounds better in the fall. Many events have lead to the autumn season and Neil Young being forever entwined in my mind. I love this season.

Guided By Voices is always one of my favorite fall bands.

Take your pick:

ophidiophobia

Listened to this last night before going to bed. The soft melancholic feel of the album makes it a great album to move into fall, IMO.

headhunter

Indeed!!!!  I really love the old songs he did with his mum and sister too, that included some old versions of his finished recorded songs (most of which were done solo, too)

And of course most of the Led Zeppelin catalogue really shines in the Fall.....

Randomly found this version the other day though!!  Hope I didn't already post this somewhere...... I've been excited about it since I heard it

Led Zeppelin-"In the Light" (Alternate version)

Led Zeppelin - The Battle of Evermore

Unknown Pleasures is more of a winter album, I think. The fucking dead of winter. God, I love Joy Division.
