Just back from the Fillmore, Jim is where you would expect him to be on the far right. They played the first disk front to back. Great live! After a break they each came out and did some of their own stuff. Jim played Wonderful and TWTHS, which rocked but not full on MMJ. He played the bass most of the show, he definitely has a grove with it. They ended the show with another Woody song Pastures of Plenty, beautiful!
The Fillmore is pretty amazing, maybe I am just new to how SF does shows. We easily got to the front of the stage and could lean on it like at the Brooklyn Bowl. There is a waitress that tours the audience. Though i didn't eat, they serve food. And the most amazing part, they make their own posters for some of their shows including this one!!! West coast hospitality!  :)

:bath:

Show was great!  Yim was in Jim form.  Lots of dance moves, playing to the drum kit, shakes and shimmies...it was great.  I also saw lots of smiles, winks and waves being thrown around.  He really seemed to be happy to be playing at the Fillmore.  But did seem just a little nervous when he was addressing the audience.  Maybe that was just me?

What was an added bonus for me is that I got to meet fellow forum geek Jaye and we geeked out together.  It's always nice to have someone who is as big a lunatic as you are to freak out with.  And turned out we had lots more non-MMJ-related stuff in common.  So that was cool!

Bluesky, welcome to SF!  The Fillmore last night was the least crowded I have maybe ever seen it, but you can usually get your way to the front along the sides, even if it's sold out.  Always a poster at the Fillmore!  And always a raffle for an autographed one back by the coat check.  Gotta check that out next time...

And re: TWTHS - it was so out of left field, it was extra special to me.  It always resides in my top 5, so I was thoroughly stoked that they played it.  Of course not *as* rocking as MMJ...but I'll take it!  It was pretty damn good, IMO.  Made the night for me.  And Jim's voice was so crystal clear during Wonderful.  Maybe better than I've ever heard it.  Not a crack or creak.  Like buttah!

Enjoy the rest of the tour, you crazy kids!  This lineup certainly delivers.  You will not be disappointed!!!

And I forgot to add that the rest of the band blew me away as well.  Jay Farrar is just our of this world.  They were all phenomenal.  Beyond.  Really special show!!!

I like that!   8)  Pretty cool that the venue commissions a poster for each event. I only have one venue commissioned poster, and it fits the show/venue, but that Filmore one is really sweet.

Here's my video of "Wonderful (The Way I Feel)" from about half way back from last night in SF.

Jim James - Wonderful (The Way I Feel) [3.6.12]

BH

Dan sent me his setlist.   If anyone can help with the "Unknown Acoustic Songs"  please do!

*updated*  (thanks jaye!)

1-12) Entire Album in order
13) Will Johnson acoustic song
14) Song (Anders Parker)
15) Jay Farrar acoustic song
16) Wonderful (The Way I Feel) (Jim James)
17) Tell It to The Dust (Anders Parker)
18) Just To Know What You've Been Dreaming (Will Johnson)
19) Bandages and Scars (Jay Farrar)
20) The Way That He Sings (Jim James)
21) Pastures of Plenty (Woody Guthrie)
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

The Anders Parker song is called Song.   And I'm sure they played Bandages and Scars (Son Volt) but I don't think that was Jay's acoustic song...I think it was also played after The Way That He Sings.  ??

Anybody planning on  meeting up before the NYC Webster hall show?

Definitely! If anyone has suggestions, post it. Think Headhunter was going to find a place. I know a few bars near WH, but nothing that's spectacular...and the pool hall's across the street.
The Village Pourhouse on 3rd Avenue & 10th Street is less than a block away from Webster Hall with a great beer menu, decent food and works for me as a pre-show meet up.

What say you guys?

I don't get back into the city until 7ish after work but if y'all will still be there I'll stop by for a beer!
