The Birchmere show has been sold out for weeks and we have only 4 forum members plus guests with exactly one week to go?  Really?
C'mon you lurkers.
Outside doors open at 5 at which time you get your position # and then you can hang out at the bar for an hour and wait for the 6PM opening of the inside doors to get your seats.  So we have a relaxed hour to have a meet-up at the bar.

I'll be there (+1). What time are y'all planning to line up?

I think I met Jane at MSG in December, but not sure if I've met any of the rest of you :)

I'd definitely be up for a pre-show gathering at The Birchmere.  I'm the designated seat snagger for my group, so I'll be there in line before 5 (thinking roughly 3:30) and then hanging out until the venue opens at 6.

How should we find each other?  Maybe we can exchange cell phone numbers by PM or something.

With work and traffic from Maryland, I'm not sure what time I'll make it.  I like the cell phone number exchange idea.

I should be at the birchmere at 5.  My friends that I have tickets for will not so I hope that's not a problem.  Psyched for the show after reading reviews from SF and LA.  I've never been to the Birchmere but I hear really good things about it.
24 hrs from now we'll be drinking at the Birchmere bar about to be let into the venue at 6 to grab seats.

I've never been to the Birchmere but have been given explicit instructions by a serious veteran.  As described above, those in line by 5 will be given line positions for entry into the venue at 6 to secure first come first serve seats.  Each person in line is supposedly entitled to hold 10 seats for friends even if they don't have that many tickets in their possession. Therefore, some early arrivers may be able to hold seats for the rest of the forum faithful and friends.

APR PM'd me for phone # which I will send shortly.

Anyone know the best strategy for buying and getting the album signed by all of the guys?

Unless you know someone who is friendly to them, or they have a record signing event, I think it is extremely unlikely you will get anything signed. If you find them hanging out post show would be your best bet. I got 2 vinyl copies signed, but I had to purchase them where the signing event was, or they would not sign anything.

I am soooo freakin' excited for tonight's show!!!!

Lucy you're coming to the Crystal?  Us too!  We'll be at Cassidy's apx 7:00 (meeting fellow forum friend smhoffman there too) if you want to pop in.  Look for two old farts, Baby MMJ, and a scowling 10-year old girl + smhoffman who I haven't yet met!

I completely missed this post - I was already on the way to the airport - otherwise I would have totally looked for you!  Great show!  I was about 15 feet from Jim all night.  It was divine!

Hey Lucy,
Too bad we missed you.  Me, too.  Parked right in front just left of Jim.  I wonder if I'll ever get that close again.  One of the nice things about a small venue like that.  Loved the show and everyone was in fine form.  Cheers!
Give me a butt load of reverb on this one - just pile it on.

The Birchmere has had that special entry for as long as I can remember. You get a number according to where you are in line, then you're free to leave and come back. When they open the doors at 6, you go in chronological order. I'm not sure about saving up to 10 seats, though...I've never seen anyone do that.

I believe the tables right up against the stage seat 8...could be 10, I don't remember. Those run parallel to the stage. Across the walkway from that are the seats at the banquette, which is SUPER comfortable. I'm not sure where I want to sit. Sometimes those tables right at the stage require you crane your neck. Hmm.

Got your PM, Mr. Whippy. I'll see you (and the rest of you!) tomorrow afternoon.
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

MrWhippy

The Birchmere show tonight far exceeded my very high expectations for it.

Fun to meet a few more of you crazy folks as well.

Jane and I get the prize for first ones in line.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

Wow. Yeah. Definitely exceeded my expectations. Jay (and Anders and Will) on The Way That He Sings was such a nice surprise (as was having it on the setlist). Bravo!

Great to meet GO4IT, Mr. Whippy and APR and to see Jane again. I never did get Ali that beer...Jazz Fest!

I've got an extra for Philly tonight if anyone's interested.
The wind blew me back, via Chicago, in the middle of the night.

What time does NM come on stage?  The Webster Hall ticket say 7:30, but I beleive there is an open act, so I am thinking 8:45 or so?

Thanks in advance.

so nice to meet/see everyone again! Whippy - we were super early but we couldnt have ask for a nicer day to hang around.

sass - nice to hang with yah! don't worry, i'm sure we'll all be buying each other rounds at jazzfest. the long drive home last night wasn't too bad, we powered through it.

The show was pretty epic. I'm amazed at how great all four of the guys voices were. Each were strong enough to hold up next to one other. I loved the collaboration on The Way That He Sings. What a perfect show!

forgot to add - Bobby Bare Jr! he was a wonderful surprise!

I believe doors open at 7:30 w/ the opener coming on at 8:30.  At least that's what Bowery's web site says.

I'd appreciate any comments about times, doors, set lengths, etc too....

Anybody know if Webster Hall has a coat/bag check? Coming straight from work.

I suppose I could check their website too...

i think the opener played around 45 mins to an hour.  i could be wrong on that.

the group went on around 9 played the whole way through the album then each one played a solo song. they then played about 5 more songs all together ending around 1045/11. so about a 2 hr set.
