Chamberlin!

A young band that MMJ fans may be hearing more about soon...  ;)

I'd like a little Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, War on Drugs, Wild Flag, and some Pearl Jam. Maybe Lambchop too.

I like M.Ward, but I can only take so much mellow and then he starts talking and that husky, smokey voice that just distracts me. All I do is imagine him saying ordinary things in that voice while whispering in my ear: Pass the salt, please; Where's the remote...etc. and then I get the giggles. (I'm rather immature as if I needed to tell any of you that.)

You dream of M. Ward asking you to pass the pepper?  Well, I guess it depends on where he's sprinkling the spice.  ;)

The somewhat reunited Afghan Whigs.  Just my wishful thinking, but they have only 4 festival shows booked - 3 in Europe in late May and early June and then curating the ATP deal in New Jersey in September.  Big hole in the middle there, no Twilight shows, Kentucky Roots, JJ has talked about them as an influence.  Just saying.

ohhhh soup, that is a GREAT wish....wow, i'd love to see that...!

Kentucky in July sounds better than Jersey in September.  Maybe I'll win the lotto and do both.  Dulli's cover of Paper Thin Hotel from the Leonard Cohen thingy is really quite fabulous and a live version can be found here (for some reason, I can't get videos to post here anymore):

Daniel Johnston doesn't seem like a dream... I saw him headline at Starry Nights Music Fest in 2010... A festival with less than 2,000 people.

I saw him play to a huge crowd at Austin City Limits a few years back.  It was pretty painful/hard to watch...what did you think of the show you saw?
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

Daniel shows are painful/hard to watch.  But if you appreciate him and his music it's still a beautiful thing.

I'd like to see Charles Bradley and Gary Clark Jr.  I don't think either is particularly likely except that they'd be a good fit and seem to be on the festival circuit this year.
then you need to come to Mt Jam with us!  ;)

It'd take a lot more than that to get me to Mt Jam!   ;) ;D

Now that I look at it actually, the Jazzfest lineup just has the "Levon Helm Band" billed, which is the same billing that the band gets at Rambles even when Levon isn't present. So perhaps Levon will be out of commission after all. Either way, hope he gets well soon!

He's playing a benefit here billed as "Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble" in mid-March...as far as I can tell it's still on, hope he's feeling better no matter what!

That would put me into a state of hyper-giggling. I'm pretty sure I'd pee my pants if I could listen to that! And Northern Neighbor, it's not a sexual fantasy, it's just more something that distracts me. ;D

Penny Lane

Okay if it's a game then, I guess my official guesses will be:

1. M Ward
2. VHS or Beta
3. Ben Sollee/Daniel Martin Moore-some mountaintop removal act
4. Fruit Bats
5. The Roots
6. Gary Clark, Jr. (for tbd)
7. Mavis Staples
8. PHJB
9. Foo Fighters (or RHCP)
10. Alabama Shakes
