Whether they are made up of leftover songs or they represent an experimental direction by an artist, EPs are always a nice gift to hold fans over between albums and the format has resulted in some true masterpieces. Now that we have debated the "perfect" album, share some thoughts on your favorite EPs.

Here are a few to start things off:

Alice in Chains Jar of Flies
Blind Melon Letters from a Porcupine
BRMC Howl Sessions
MMJ Chocolate and Ice
soft and warm all the time make you want it over and over

dragonboy

John Garcia @ his post Kyuss best.

Chilled out bliss from BOC.

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Jaimoe

Hands down favourite:

Chulahoma (Junior Kimbrough tribute) - The Black Keys

ManNamedTruth

That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

pawpaw

Belle & Sebastian - This is Just a Modern Rock Song
Flying Lotus - Pattern+Grid World
Radiohead - Airbag/How am I Driving?

I should go dig into my old punk EPs...
"I'm able to sing because I'm able to fly, son. You heard me right..."

YouAre_GivenToFly

The wind blew me back, via Chicago, in the middle of the night.

Off the top of my head:

MMJ: ____________
Futurebirds: s/t and Via Flamina
Fleet Foxes: Sun Giant
Alberta Cross: Rolling Thunder
Elvis Perkins in Dearland: the Doomsday EP
Broken Social Scene: To Be You and Me
Grizzly Bear: Friend EP
Iron and Wine: Woman King / In the Reins (w/Calexico)
Black Keys: Chulahoma
Melvins/Isis: Split

Unsure if they qualify: Radiohead: I Might Be Wrong / In Rainbows (Disc 2)

Currently digging: Michael Kiwanuka: I'm Getting Ready / Home Again / Tell Me a Tale (all on spotify)

I wish  there were more of these, EPs are great. I mean it would be cool to get 1 yearly by your fav bands, even if it's 4 songs. I always underestimate them and they end up being a really interesting way to take in a band...I think most metal EPs are pretty sweet.
