Will they keep the New Year's 'Celebration' tradition alive? I think they will...I sure hope so.

Funny you say this I was re-listening to 12/31/2008 and started thinking that hope "celebration" doesn't get played again. The one thing I really want to see is the show end with both MMJ and PHJB doing a 2nd line through the audience and outside.

since we'll be on or near BU campus, i'm sure there are some bars around--and being that the floor is seated (supposedly, i don't buy it, though), maybe some of us won't have to be worried about the RAIL--we might actually have time to hang out for once!

Why do you say this?  It's probably something that should be made clear by the band or the venue.  You would have some awfully pissed off people who come in to watch MMJ, expecting their floor seats, only to find it full.  I know I would be.

as far as i know, there will be some sort of separation, i just don't know how much. for the jack white show, the separation was very lax (pretty much non existent) but i'm not sure how the tix were sold, either. i was told by friends who were there that the kids working at Agganis were clueless. i'm not saying it's going to a free for all, or a completely structured flooring (like how they're strict at MSG), but i think it'll be somewhere in between..(my .02 but i've never been to the venue)

Sorry Penny, but the floor layout for Jack White, and MMJ at Agganis are different setups. JW was sold as F1 and F2 which was similar to last year's MMJ show at MSG with the GA West and GA East.  For JW, F1 was front floor, like the way GA West was at MSG. F2 was rear Ga at Agannis for JW, separated by an aisle/ railing, just like the GA East at MSG was for MMJ.

The seating chart for MMJ at Agganis was posted, and has reserved seating on the floor with F1,F2,and F3 being the front seated sections. F4, F5, and F6 behind those and  two more floor sections in the back along side the soundboard.

I can see where both Agganis setups having F1, and F2 would cause confusion, but for JW they were the only floor sections, while MMJ has eight F Floor sections for their show.

this is the upside of reserved seating.

thanks, Eric!

my only hope is that the kids working there are a bit clueless..like CLAY at Forecastle who told us the PIT would not be cleared after Dr. Doh (i didn't want to correct knowledge of music). that kid caused HAVOC.

Stop hatin' on  poor Clay. Because of him, I got to see three hours of The Bird and about thirty  minutes of pit fighting. You don't get that much entertainment every day. Bless his heart.

Pretty bizarre question, but do you think they'll sell some champagne at the concession stands??? Never been to a New Years arena show before!

Yes. I have seen a lot of NYE shows and every venue I have been at has sold Champagne on NYE.

might require creating an account to edit, but heres a map for everyone to map out where they are traveling from for the PC and Boston shows

http://www.pinmaps.net/map/10886/ewind/mmj-port-chester-and-boston

you can leave comments on pins, and comments on the map, etc. all in all, just another social networking thing we dont need.

if you check out stubhub for the NYE show, you can see that they only have tickets in the center sections of the arena.   It's not a surprise that tix behind stage aren't available- it shows that on the ticketmaster seating chart- but if there were no tickets sold in F7 - F9 and 105 - 111, that suggests demand isn't very high at all.   I don't know if tickets were sold there or not - anyone sitting in those sections?   but usually stubhub has at least some tickets in every available section.

that's not a lot of people! probably 3,000 or so, for a 7200 person arena.   Not that I'm complaining for our sake, but I hate for this to not be a success.

midwesterner

I can't believe they aren't going to sell tickets for 105, 106, 107, 108, 109,110, & 111. I think I puled tickets at one point for section F7 but threw them back. I think you are right on only about 3000 tickets being sold so far. But I am not too concerned about ticket sales though.  If remember correctly tickets didn't sell that well for MSG but on the night of the show the place filled up. I would expect the same to happen this year.

wolof7

I am in the first row of F7, my buddy got the tix, I wan't thrilled but whatever. I have an extra if anyone needs one.
Oh, I will dine on honey dew And drink the Milk of Paradiseeeee

pjfan04101

I just went on TM and did a search for 4 tix and then 2.  Both times they put me in 103.  It's a little under 2 months away, but I wouldn't be surprised if the place is half full come show time.  I don't think they sold out BOA a couple summers ago, and that's probably half the size of Agganis.

They should have played at the Orpheum

Either way, those of us that are there will have a blast.  As long as the band makes some money off it, can pay their crew, and have a good time, we're all winners.  Right?

Not as many bars as you would think in a short walk.  T's Pub is on the same side of Comm Ave, a couple blocks away and next to the Paradise.  The Sunset Cantina is across the street and has a   solid beer selection, but a cumbersome bar setup (unless everyone is at tables).

johnnYYac

Maybe we can look into finding a nearby bar with a room for us to reserve.  We did this for last year's show at Madison Square Garden.

I agree about the Cantina last time I was there it was parents weekend at BU and there was a line outside with an hour wait...unceratin what NYE would look like there.

I've emailed Sunset Cantina about getting a room, with catering or off the menu.  Its right across the street.  I said 30-40 people from 5 to 7 pm.  Cool?
