And, perhaps most subtly, something I think is turning a very important corner:

DOWNLOADS OF THE SHOWS INCLUDED WITH YOUR TICKET

does that only apply to the roll call tix ?

I don't care. And I'm not sure. The simple fact they're getting on board is welcome news

Well said Yac.  We needed a good dose of positive vibes.  Thanks for that.  The greatest band on the planet is putting on insane shows with lot of surprises.  And it sounds like everyone that needed Port Chester tix was able to get them.

Can't wait for Yac's thank you note after the NYE gig.

No, the email said everyone who purchases a ticket will get the download. Also, did anyone notice that NN said "y'all" I may be having an influence over him.

Now back to thanking Our Morning Jacket. I agree with everything said above. But thank you for giving me so much joy through your music and providing me a way to meet such great people time and time again at your shows and through this site. You've given and we take so much. I hope only that you are able to feel the joy emanating from us during a show. It's all we can give you in appreciation - well, we can give you dollar bills too, but that's not what this is about.

Agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments here.  They are listening to us and what we want, and they are just killing it right now.  As special as we know they are, I think they realize that they have cultivated an amazing group of hardcore fans and we are very much in this adventure together.

Also agree with Fully that I love this great community of people I have found that also get what is going down and that I can share this obsession with.

Can't wait for Port Chester/Boston!
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

Well said John!  Couldn't agree more!

And Ben, you're not alone in being a Cowboys fan!

great post, mr. yac.    every show this tour seems to have had its "wtf? how much better can these guys get?" moments.   for me, that moment at forecastle when i realized they were starting into "isn't it a pity?" will be forever burned into my memory.

and i didn't really discover MMJ until 2008, so it's great to see them play the more obscure, earlier songs that i love but never thought i'd catch live.

Dear MMJ - Thanks for the past 18 months or so...I mean I got to see you in Chicago in the early stages of circuital July 2011.  Next, roll call announces Forecastle and what the hell?  I have to go see you guys there!  How can I not?  So that was my first field trip and met a couple cool roll call chicks that love the band as much as I do.  Then, another show in Chicago just a few weeks ago.  You guys have been touring so much and making so many people happy.  Keep it going as long as you can...please, never ever stop touring......
Thank you for making my life a more happy life to enjoy.  Truly some days I am so happy just trying to figure out what songs I want to listen to.  Right now...Tyrone is doing it for me.

How did I miss this thread?

This year has been a great year for My Morning Jacket and the fans. I've been able to make shows at Forecastle, Milwaukee, Chicago, and will end the year in Boston for NYE. I have had the pleasure of having great spots near the stage for all of the shows. I have met some great fellow MMJ fans, shared great road trips with friends, and had the pleasure of helping curate setlists. Hearing some songs I have never heard live before was so amazing this year. Forecastle from start to finish (soundcheck below the overpass, Forecastle day, MMJ headline show, Belle Afterparty, meeting MMJ) was the highlight by far and away. I look forward to NYE in Boston and couldn't think of a better way to finish off one of the best MMJ years to date.

Thank you to fellow posters on the boards, managment (Eric M), friends who traveled to the shows with me, Roll Call, and most importantly to a band that really cares about their fans My Morning Jacket!

Thank you for Red Rocks - I will never forget it.

Multiple night runs (with no repeats ) are the best thing ever.  Two nights next year at the Fox in Oakland would be super sweet.

Just two?   Why not five?  Or 10, 20?  A month's residency at the Fabulous Fox!

The best times of my spring/summer were spent seeing MMJ and hanging out with MMJ friends, especially the fests (newport, jazz fest, forecastle), obsessing over MMJ tix, making Johnny Quaid remarks, texting pics of Jim with glasses on, texting pics of Jim high kicking, ..you know...the best part is the journey!
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

Time to pile on the appreciation for a hell of a year, so far.  This place has been the site of much complaint regarding set list diversity, or lack thereof.  The setlists, designed to promote an album, don't always work for the diehard fan who wants to see 4+ shows in a tour.

Then came Spontaneous Curation!  If ever we needed to know that the band is hearing its fans, it came loud and clear.  Sure, the T5 run was the ultimate in unique setlists, but many folks couldn't make the full run, if at all.  Also, each night was pretty much about one 2 year slice of their career.

In 2012, an MMJ-curated Forecastle, Newport Folk, Red Rocks x2 with no repeats!  LA Wiltern x3 with no repeats!  PC Cap x3 with no repeats!

And, to top it off, the guys are playing with renewed vigor.  Bo is stronger in the mix, Patrick is a madman in the middle, Carl just won't sit still, Tommy is Batman! and Jim... y'know.

Scroll through those setlists and be amazed.  And it aint over yet!

wish they did this every tour and every year!

I must add a big thank you to Jim, Carl, Eric, Rocky, Don, and Ryan for bringing 40% of MMJ to NH.  The event took place 30 miles from home and was free!  The setlist was great, they went over their set time a good bit, and performed top notch "solo" acoustic Jim with accompanying electric Carl.  Let's hope Jim was serious when he said "we'll be back."
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.
