yawn.  the big city gets one storm in the last century and everybody flips.  this shit happens during tornado season every year to the center of the country and nobody gives a fuck.  biggest overreaction to weather, ever.
you're sad and pathetic.

and you're old, stupid, and ugly. what's your point?

I normally hold my tongue to avoid feeding the troll, but in this case, despite whatever moronic backlash ensues, I don't mind saying that this is just fucking stupid and awful, even by sticky standards.

South shore of Long Island is messed up pretty bad. I'm all good, tree down in the yard, no power, but coulda been much worse. Hope everyone else is alright!

you'd figure in a sane society this would be the first thing that comes up.  but no, here it's whether or not God sent the hurricane.   this country is so hypersensitive it's not even funny.

I'd like to take a moment to thank my parents for raising me to be a kind and respectful adult.  Thanks Mom and Dad.

tbd810 is neither old, stupid, nor ugly. This is not the appropriate time for this. ericm is facing home damage or loss as are many, many more.  I live in an area that's had many severe tornados and I disagree that no one cares when it happens in the middle of the country. This is the most highly populated area of the nation. The potential for disaster was of epic proportions. While I consider it lucky that there was as limited damage as there was, I seriously doubt that anyone who lost their home, possessions or life would feel that they were lucky.

well, that's just a flat out lie.  she is old by my standards.  and she has also proven to be an oversensitive bitch.  I'm not sure if it's because of menopause or what but she's had an attitude lately.

storms are storms and just because it happened in NY/NJ doesn't make me any more or less sympathetic than I normally would be.  to suggest otherwise is nothing more than like your opinion man.

Oh a little misogyny on top of that, awesome. All my love to tbd810 and anyone affected by the storm, I wish you nothing but the best and hope everyone is ok! ♥!

Thanks Trace. I thank my parents every day for not putting me in a pillow case and throwing me into the river like they did the kittens.

Well I know that Brooke and I didn't have anywhere to go and it's been scary and we've been without power and showers and water etc. You can't get money from the ATMs and there's a 6pm curfew where I am. I'm hoping it lets up soon. I'm one of the few who got power (it's off and on) back on my street. Also lines for the pay phones are ridiculous..today i had to move apartments in the dark. Been a trying time, today I just sort of lost it.

I think Brooke checked into a hotel up in midtown because lower Manhattan is without anything. I know Headhunter is without power and running a bit short on food-they're hoping something opens up tomorrow. Long Island looks like a disaster zone. Glad everyone else around here is good? trish, eric, chode, ynwa, lil sis, etc

and yes, hope dodobird's okay, too...his folks had a house in breezy and i think he lived up near poughkeepsie or westchester?

but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

I heard from Ericm by text, that he is ok. He did evacuate.  Penny texted me last night that she was ok but without power, and keeping her phone off to conserve.

I worry very much for our friend Brian with the bagpipes (i can't remember his forum name, but we met him at MPP in 2010).....he is from Breezy Point in Queens where 80 homes burned....

There is really unbelievable devastation surrounding us here in the tri state area...hoping and praying that things get better soon, and that all of our friends are safe.
Brian's screen name was Dodobird.  I hope he is OK.

I'm fortunate to have heard from all my NYC/Jersey friends and they came away physically unscathed.  Best wishes in a quick recovery.

We were extremely lucky here with only many with lost power and downed trees in our hood.
Dodobird! That's him.  Now the count is over 100 homes decimated there...miraculously, there don't seem to have been any fatalities.

As we see the pictures and coverage of the aftermath, I try to remain upbeat and remind myself that there are could have been many more injuries and deaths - a total of 51 dead and a nuber of people missing, so far.

The problem now seems to be gas lines, and a town called Mantoloking is on fire - not accessible from the mainland...unable to be reached by firefighters.

I have a number for Brian- Dodo from a few years back. Just text him and hope to hear back
