gotta say, this thread was worrying me... I torrented it just because I couldn't wait with all this discussion. Superlatives are not necessary for the record, but it's good! Sounds like Z or EU...


That being said EVERYONE THAT'S GOTTEN IT ALREADY NEEDS TO ALSO BUY IT WHEN IT COMES OUT OR YOU'RE NOT REALLY A FAN

I already have the album pre-ordered on Vinyl so I didn't have any conflict when a friend gave me a burned CD copy of this album.  But I want to play devil's advocate for a second...

What if this friend gave me this CD to listen to (which actually happened) and I gave it a few spins and decided it wasn't for me. I return the CD to him and say "Thanks but no thanks". 

Is there a difference between what I did in that hypothetical situation and me downloading this album, listening to it a few times, and then deleting it from my computer because I didn't like it?


I want to be clear....I think if you download a leaked album and enjoy it you should purchase it in some form when it's released. I usually only buy records and they tend to come with download codes.

But I also don't think anyone who has listened to the leaked copy needs to purchase it. If you are a fan....I know you will buy it and also that you will likely see Jim live (money on tickets) and potentially buy merch (posters, shirts).

I got the album early from a legal source and listened to it last night. I really like it a lot. Love that it has a old school soul sound. Love the bass lines and the fuzzed out guitar solos on a few tracks. I am really interested to see what the media makes of it because it is very different than what a MMJ album sounds like. The track order IMO is a little weird, only because it seems like the first few songs are the longest songs on the album. Also I think this album will sound great on vinyl and can't wait to hear it.

I would love to see a tour for this album be half acoustic and the second half electric with Jim and a band.

KVGQ: I'm not even trying to be some kind of jacket-martyr. laws are made to be broken. but not broken then bragged about in front of the people that you are fuckin-over. I used to download everything, until I got into vinyl.
